blueox Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 It's nice to see Ren get some screen time to tell at least some of his story: (Right click for full screen and other options.)
FredZepp Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Well THAT was Fantastic !!! great stuff to hear from Ren. We heard some of these same stories at different PSP's also. Next ... we need the full book with photos...
DavesNotHere Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Fastest eight minutes I've spent in a long time. Where are the other eight hours?
DavesNotHere Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I was in Wolfe's in Nashville one day and John, the manager, told me about how one time he called Heritage to speak to Marv. They told him "Marv will have to call you back later, he's a little busy. Ren is chasing him around the shop with a chisel right now." I don't know what led up to that, but it's a cool little anecdote
rjmajik Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 It's nice to see Ren get some screen time to tell at least some of his story: (Right click for full screen and other options.) Thanks for posting. Got to meet and talk with Ren for a little while last year. What an interesting man! Very humble and man, he has some great stories. He was playing that night with some friends at a club in town, wish I could have stayed for that.
skydog52 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Thanks for posting that. Enjoyed it and Ren is the Man!!!!!
schundog Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I really enjoyed that; I even made Wifey sit down and watch it with me. "Have you MET that guy?!" she asked me. I assured her I not only had met him, but made him pose for a picture with me! haha. I was watching one of the videos from the factory tour, either PSPI or PSPII, and Ren was telling the story about when he was in Asia touring the Epi plant, and he pointed out a production flaw in a guitar to the foreman. The foreman called the woman responsible over, and KNOCKED HER OUT!! Then Ren, in his dry, deadpan, sense of humor, said, "Now, we don't do that around here..." Good thing.
DetroitBlues Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 That video was as if I was just having a little chat with Ren at the factory water cooler... Amazing stuff. Hope he shares those photographs for some sort of history book.
TalismanRich Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 We need someone from the area to sit down and do a full history with this man! This is as much music history as the various "rockumentaries" that are being put out on DVD.
sk8centilli Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 He's one in a mill... well, Kalamazoo isn't that big, but he's one in a whole bunch.
bolero Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 wow...great video clip, love those stories, Ren is the man!! seriously, someone needs to document this stuff, it's a fascinating look into the history of American music & instruments I feel privileged to have an instrument built by those folks...
cook Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Thanks for posting that. Enjoyed it and Ren is the Man!!!!! Yeah he is!
