Hfan
Very cool. We are lucky to have the entire Heritage crew. Really is a one of a kind operation, very unique.
Guest HRB853370
Heritage Guitar has a history of going its own way. While other guitar manufacturers increasingly build their instruments in Mexico, Korea, China, Indonesia, and other places known for inexpensive labor, and in a market where computer-aided manufacturing is the norm and mass-produced instruments dominate, the team of craftsmen at Heritage do the exact opposite. By designing and building small batches of handcrafted, high-quality guitars from solid woods right here in the United States, Heritage is able to pay attention to those crucial details that define a great 6-string. Almost a third of Heritage guitars are custom built to specification—from the ornamentation to the hardware and pickups—and almost 80 percent of the business is for export, Deurloo says. “More than half of that goes to the Orient: Hong Kong, China, and Singapore. That’s the developing market. Germany and the Netherlands have always been pretty strong for us, too.” Lamb says he’s not anticipating any major design changes and that new models are released whenever an idea takes hold, such as the Millennium Pro, which was shown at the 2012 NAMM show. “We build as fine a guitar as there is in the world,” Lamb says. “We put a lot of tender, loving care into our instruments. We’re not mass-producing them. We only run small quantities—that is where we put our quality.” That quality is the cumulative result of a highly skilled team. “Every guitar we build has a little different feel because they are all handmade,” Deurloo says. “Each time a person does their part of the process, it adds individual character to that particular guitar. The sum of the people who contribute to each step—that’s what makes our guitars.” That is the best marketing brochure content I have ever read!! That is amazingly well put Fred. You need to send that to Vince to incorporate into their brochures. Very succinct and 100% truth in advertising! But what about England, Ireland and Australia? Our HOC members in those countries have repeatedly expressed that Heritage guitars are NOT readily available for purchase. What gives?

I pieced that together from parts of the article... and I agree, it states it rather clearly what we all know and love about Heritage.

JeffB
But what about England, Ireland and Australia? Our HOC members in those countries have repeatedly expressed that Heritage guitars are NOT readily available for purchase. What gives? There is no distributor in Australia. There was, but he also had a store, and to me that was a conflict in interest. We were competing directley with the distributor and he was undercutting us. edit. I looked on his website one day and he was doing huge discounts on all his Heritage guitars as well as giving a $750 store credit. It was pointless for any store in Australia to sell Heritage. We stopped buying Heritage that day. We more or less had to give the remaining stock up at below cost just to move them as he had Heritage marked below our buy price. edit He effectively killed Heritage in Australia. edit Another friend of mine approached Heritage to be the Australian/New Zealand distributor but they couldnt get it together and Im afraid the company he was working for would have done exactly the same thing as the other crew. So, edit Personally I feel, edit They should be edit and I would do it to edit rant over

schundog
While I love PG magazine, month after month, as I have read articles about other small shops, I scratched my head as to why they hadn't done an article on Heritage. I'm glad the guys on Parsons Street finally got the respect and visiblility they so richly deserve. I was grinning ear-to-ear reading the article. I also, then sent in my 2-year renewal subscription notice!
