Andy R Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Hi guys- I just found this forum in my quest for info on our boys- I'm actually a Heritage artist and love the guitars. I have a Golden Eagle in VSB with the most incredible quilted back and sides I've ever seen, and a killer 555 in amber with a wood upgrade, HRW's, and custom wiring (Master Volume). I have to chime in on the quality control issues people are talking about- I've owned 5 Heritage guitars, one had a neck with a little twist, but I've found 0 flaws on any of the rest. I'm deeply saddened at the prospect of losing one of the last of the great American guitar builders. My only complaint has been the pickup on my 17 year old GE- A DeArmond fixed that problem though!!! Yankeefan01 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 How are you doin' Andy and welcome to the forum.

Dick Seacup Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Welcome to the Club, Andy! It's always cool to have Heritage artists hanging about! Is this you: . If so..
golferwave Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Thanks for the pictures Andy and welcome aboard! I also have been perplexed about the quality complaints as I've owned over 30 Heritage guitars and the only thing I've had is a couple of bad pots (Not Heritages issue) . I think they are one of the finest on the market as they've always used the highest quality of wood to build these guitars. We all hope for an announcement soon that they will be resuming production but with each day that passes I get more nervous.
Andy R Posted October 4, 2007 Author Posted October 4, 2007 Thanks guys, and yes Dick, that is me, with the 70 lbs I've lost since we did that vid....
Dick Seacup Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Who cares about that, Andy...your band plays some smoking Western Swing! I watched your original number ("Jumping at the Station" I think) and was mighty impressed...it looks like all of you are having a lot of fun making music. Your solo on "All of Me" was very jazzy, very cool. I like what I've seen so far.
Gitfiddler Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Hi and Welcome, AndyR! I also have a Golden Eagle in VSB with a crazy quilted maple back/sides and just scored the most incredible HRW equiped H555 in Golden Amber. Great minds think alike, right?! http://img211.imageshack.us/my.php?image=h...geh55507at9.jpg http://img168.imageshack.us/my.php?image=h...deneaglezr9.jpg
JohnCovach Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 I love the Barney Kessel. I see a sunburst one on All of Me but a natural one on the Stompin' tune. Or maybe it's the same guitar? The Barney is perhaps one of the most overlooked of the great Gibson jazz guitars. And, of course, they were made in Kalamazoo.
Andy R Posted October 6, 2007 Author Posted October 6, 2007 I'ts the same guitar, different lighting- too bad- it looks great in blonde! Ren and the boys were making great guitars back then too! I love the acsess and the neck angle. I've been fantasizing about a double cut H-550.
JohnCovach Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Check this out, if you haven't seen it: http://www.wechterguitars.com/models/model-9100.htm This is the handmade version of this guitar (Wechter also has a cheap Chinese one). Built right in Paw Paw, Michigan, not far from Heritage. It's the acoustic cousin to the Barney. I've got one and it sounds great and is a joy to play for all the same reasons as the Kessel model.
