JBMorse Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Hi, I am not yet a Heritage owner but am almost convinced I need one for my first archtop. From all the looking and listening I've been doing the 575 seems to fit the bill for what I want. Anyway, I have been watching the online stores and this beauty came up recently: http://www.gbase.com/gear/heritage-h-575-mh-almond-sun-burst# I was wondering if you all could tell me what it is. The single pickup is unique and I don't know what the "MH" stands for. Also, is that a spruce top? It says maple in the ad but doesn't look as "flamey" as I've seen. It's in Connecticut so it wouldn't be impossible for me to go try it out. I haven't played a 575 yet but it seems like a 16" box with a mounted pickup would suit my needs well. I like the thinner body of the 575 too. I played an ES 165 and liked it but I can picture feedback being a problem with the deeper body.
JohnCovach Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I love my 575, but if feedback is going to be an issue, the solid top on these does not help solve that problem.
Gitfiddler Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 'MH' = Mahogany back and sides on a 575. Welcome to the HOC, JBM!
SouthpawGuy Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Definitely looks like a spruce top, pickguard looks to be non factory.
Bulldog Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 http://elderly.com/vintage/items/40U-5339.htm FYI, here is a link to a 575 Custom that I'm selling through Elderly Instruments. I don't think it's proper to "sell" in this section of the board. I just wanted to make you aware. So, if you would like more information you could PM me. Moderators, please - was this an appropriate use I just want to keep peace and live in eternal Heritage happiness.
Steiner Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 That's a mahogany (MH) with a spruce top. Great playing and sounding guitars. That one has most of the appointments of a 575 custom. I agree with you SPG. Although it appears to be wooden (made by Heritage?), its shape is different from the standard 575 pickguard. EDIT: Nice 575 Custom Bulldog!
tsp17 Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Yep, 575 MH is a fabulous guitar. Sound good plugged and unplugged. The 16 inch body is a great size for many (me included).
Kuz Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 My Custom 575 (from Wolfe's) has that picky guard. Maybe that is how Jay orders his 575 (and personally, I think it is a better looking pick guard)
barrymclark Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 That\'s a real beauty, JB! Got my 575 from Wolfe. Treated me right. Buy with confidence!
JBMorse Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 By golly it's still there! The seller posted an ad with a Youtube video on Ebay and, though he's not a great player, you can tell it's a pretty sounding guitar. I wish he'd demonstrated with a more sensible amp, but you can't please everyone. August is really busy this year, but if it hasn't sold by the end of the month I am going to drive over there and check it out in person. There's a good chance it will come home with me if I do.
DetroitBlues Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 That's awesome. The "H" tailpeice is such a killer appointment. Wish Heritage could still put them on. Too bad they can find a parts builder for them... Anyone work at a machine shop?

jeffmatz Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I wouldn't worry too much about feedback...most if it can be quelled with clever eq tweaks and adjusting where you sit in terms of your amp. ...assuming you're playing clean, jazzy stuff...if you're looking to play some high gain rock and roll, yeah...you'll have some feedback. This is a gorgeous 575 you have a line on....i say check it out for sure.
