MartyGrass Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 It'll be a couple of days. FedEx business delivery, so I'll at least know what time it will arrive. I went with a lightweight. I'll leave the heavy lifting for Brent. He has a stronger back.
Keith7940236 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Wow Mark, that is a real beauty. what pups do you have in it?
schundog Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Very nice, Mark; but it looks just like the one in your signature, minus pickguard. Different pickups? Either way, nice score.
MartyGrass Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 I haven't gotten it yet, but it is completely stock except for the nut, which Jay Wolfe had installed. It's a compensated nut. http://www.buzzfeite.../howitworks.htm It's much like my other Millie except it has stripes, not spots. One of these two will end up with P92s and a Bigsby. Here's the spotted one without the pickguard on. Here's the striped one, too lazy to stand up.
bolero Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 haha, congrats!! I was wondering if someone here picked that up in hindsight you would be the logical choice it has Seth's in it, correct?
Steiner Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 You're all set for a cunning array of stunts! Beautiful guitars too!
DetroitBlues Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Wow, that is nice! H tailpiece and abolone inlays? Too cool. Congrats!
MartyGrass Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 They both have Seths in them. That's true for the whole series of the Millie Eagle 2000 with rare exception. They work very well and sound like Gibson 57s and other PAFs. It's just that I got this set of low wound P92s that I want to put into something. They should sound somewhere between a traditional P90 and a Strat-like pickup.
SouthpawGuy Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Nice one ! Interesting to know how you find the P92s compared to Seths / P90s etc.
Gitfiddler Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Perfect ending to that story! Congrats on yet another amazing score!! Play THEM in good health, doc.
MartyGrass Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 Nice one ! Interesting to know how you find the P92s compared to Seths / P90s etc. That experiment was done by TXLefty, a HOC member. He pulled out the Seths and never looked back. It's almost pointless to ask someone how pickups sound, but I asked him anyway. Yes, they sound like P-90s. And yes, they sound great in a Millie Eagle 2000. But I'm thinking, his is left handed. I wonder if they'll sound good in a right handed Eagle 2000. I gots to know.

FredZepp Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 That has to be a sweet Heritage to play... and I like the look of the inlays. It should have a nice warm , woody tone.. .. ( spotted/striped description ... funny, but true )

Time for a bottle of champagne or 30yr old whisky!
MartyGrass Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 Didn't you say a few months back that "you were done"? And I was done. Then you went on your crazy spree. And then Brent with his LP and GM. The way I see it is I had no choice.
gpuma Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 And I was done. Then you went on your crazy spree. And then Brent with his LP and GM. The way I see it is I had no choice. It's so hard to keep up with the Jones...
High Flying Bird Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Either one will look good with a Bigsby. I would go with the one that would look the most gaudy.... like I did with the gold 535.
bebove64 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Beauutiful! Congrats! A rare bird in the old Continent ( except for W. Muthspiel)
RhoadsScholar Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 That will make a nice pair. A whammy when you need it, single coils when your in the mood. Love the finishes (can't pick one, so two would have to do)
blueox Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Congratulations! Lots of classy looks and tones there.
