JWALKER Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Sorry, it has taken me awhile to get some photo links up, but my 2003 new old stock Sweet 16 is here. I love it, and you can get it from me if you can break the "Kung Fu Grip" I have on this fine guitar. I never intend to be without a archtop again, and the only thing that can replace this Sweet 16 is a custom order Sweet 16 or a custom Eagle. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS016.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS017.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS020.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS021.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS023.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS025.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS026.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS027.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS028.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS032-1.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS033.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff368/jwalker37/3GUITARS036.jpg Thanks for looking, and it is great to have a Heritage again, Thank You God!
High Flying Bird Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 It don't look quite right. Tell you what I'll do.... Sorry went into the Mr. Haney mode there. Beautiful guitar. How loud would you have to play before I could hear it in north Alabama?
DetroitBlues Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Nothing quite like a hot blonde with some beautiful curves! Congrats!
JWALKER Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 Thanks everybody. I do have a stand, but I also have a rather adventuresome but beloved sneaky cat. I could just see my cat climbing up my Sweet 16, and in that event, I sure would miss that Kitty. So, I keep her in her case, the Sweet 16 that is. Can I get some string recommendations from everyone. I am thinking of using Thomastik Bebop roundwounds, but I would love to know what everyone else is using on their archtops.
Spectrum13 Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Classy and nice sweet 16. Even a 2003 NOS needs to be played and broken in. Congrads
blueox Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Congratulations on your Heritage! Now, that is classy with that stinger, double striped neck, the big H tailpiece, etc., etc.

Sounds like the cat would offer some premature "checking" to the finish...

No worries, cats dont like guitars!
Gitfiddler Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 I agree 100%. That Sweet 16 is very SWEET!! Also, it is obvious that you mean what you say about your "Kung Fu Grip". It looks like a Death Grip you've got on your new gitfiddle!
Steiner Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 I LOVE naked, blonde hollowbodies! NICE score. Happy NGD
Teeky Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Congratulations. A masterpiece of guitar art. Incidently, I'm hooked on Thomastic-Infeld Swing flatwounds (0.012s). Good highs plus superb mellow but powerful bass strings, excellent for distinct bass lines.
ppdlt351 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Thats a beauty!! Just got a new old 1999 Sweet 16 that looks a lot like yours. I do have a question though. Looking at the side shot I see that the bridge is cranked way up. When I got mine it was like that too. It made me nervous. I've never seen bridges up that high and I was concerned. Is it safe to have a bridge cranked up like that. I was getting ready to drive 4 hours to Wolfe to have it fixed. I hope this is the right place to ask Question. Again that's beauty, enjoy it in good health!
JWALKER Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 Your right about the action. I have been very busy with work, since I got the Sweet 16. I need to have a set up done, but I am going to get some good strings first. The strings are semi loose, so there is no serious tension being applied at present. It sounds like we are similar with no local technician. I cannot think of anyone that I am completely confident with in my area to work on my guitars.
Ned Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 There is no reason you can't do your own set up. I would assume the nut is fine from the factory. There are a few threads here about truss rod adjustment - string buzz started by Slammer recently is pretty exhaustive. Everybody loves the TIs. I happen to like rounds on my sixteen and use DR pure blues. I think your super beautiful guitar left Parsons street with 12s. You need some string mass to make that blonde vibrate. 12s seem perfect to me. If you go up, you'll need some nut work. Enjoy that beauty. working on her yourself will help make her yours. N

Ned Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Juststrings.com No association exceptnthey know my credit card well. In my very limited experience, TI flats are great amplified and they last for ever. Rounds are good unamplified where all the harmonics and overtoned are rewarding. N
