skydog52 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 That is hard to look at Mark. I know how much you like your guitars and I hope it works out for you.
Spectrum13 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 2 words... That sucks! Hope it works out. Some people.
MartyGrass Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 It gets a little worse. He told me the shipping shop promised to bubble wrap the guitar and box the case. He blames the shop. I called the shop. They remember him bringing the guitar in and declining wrapping and boxing it because the store charges extra for that. There are greater issues in the world. My 28 year old daughter found out she's pregnant with twins last week. Today her husband was diagnosed with cancer. A few dings on a guitar and a jackass for a seller matter little.

The buyer protection will favor you no worries .
FredZepp Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Sorry to hear of the other family issues that have popped up... On the guitar, you're going to have to decide if you'd like to keep it and at what discount... and just give the seller the option to take the deal or not.
PunkKitty Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 A friend of mine is friends with Sean Watkins. He sold her his old Bourgeois. It was shipped in the hardshell case with no padding. It wasn't a flight case. The case was duck taped shut. It arrived safely. But she didn't understand why I was mortified when I saw that. Marty, the guitar problems are minor compared to what your daughter and her family are going through. I'm keeping them in my thoughts and prayers.

He made a different proposal to me- I'm stuck with the guitar and he keeps the money. The nice thing about Google Earth is that I can get the coordinates for his home in Georgia. Where are those SCUD missles when you really need one?
MartyGrass Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 OMG Mark....that is terrible...im very sorry! I appreciate that. My son-in-law is from the UK. He met my daughter while he was on a full scholarship for soccer at a university in Indiana. He's a triathlete and a lawyer now. Last week he found a testicular lump and was diagnosed with cancer today. These things happen, and they cause pain all around. But for a dad it's hardest to see his little girl cry.
skydog52 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Positive thoughts and prayers to you and your family Mark. He will whip it!
big bob Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I avoid E-bay..Just had some personal bad experiences..Decided not to buy there anymore.. My what? Was aimed at the shipper, sorry for the confusion! Some of us are close to Georgia, maybe we could, oh say, pay him a visit!
High Flying Bird Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I hate to see this. That is just too bad. The case looks like the case my 1990 150 came in.

blueox Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 This is bad news in more than one area. I know you will stand tall through it all, but it is still bad news, and I am saddened by it.
nicknickhall Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Positive thoughts and prayers to you and your family Mark. He will whip it! +1
Blunote Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Lets hope they found it early. I have a friend who married an MD. She (the MD) got pregnant and discovered breast cancer about the same time. She was going through part of her pregnancy. 5 years later, mom and daughter are doing fine. It constantly amazes me how curable various cancers are vs. when I was growing up. We'll keep your family in our prayers.
Steiner Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 When things occur, the bottom line is perspective. You chose well.
golferwave Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Prayers coming today and often for you and your family MG.
Guest HRB853370 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 He made a different proposal to me- I'm stuck with the guitar and he keeps the money. The nice thing about Google Earth is that I can get the coordinates for his home in Georgia. Where are those SCUD missles when you really need one? Mark, you don't need scud missiles, just give me his address and I will pay him a visit with a couple of my bubbas accompanying me. Guaranteed we will get the job done. Prayers will go out to your son in law. Look at it this way, Lance kicked that MF with determination and his was at the worst stage! We are all in your camp dude.
Guest HRB853370 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 The 100% buyer protection plan sometimes works, sometimes not. I've already put a dispute in. I've been down this road before a few times. FedEx Ground did the shipment. I've had the same thing happen with UPS though, although there was no problem. This is Heritage's first Millenium made. The case could have been for a 357 or something else. It has cushions fitted for the body. The current form fitted case fits it well. You have photos and documentation. That should be all you need to have an airtight case with Ebay. I would also file a paypal dispute as well.
Guest HRB853370 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 seller is painfully stupid , I've had great luck calling PayPal and walking through the claim on the phone . I would say other than the serious P.I.T.A. and waste of time , it will go your way in the end .They will require pics like you have and all of that . You will also probably have to ship it back . If it were me I would already have posted a scathing -neg. When I got a Blueshawk that arrived in dismal shape, grossly misrepresented, I filed a claim with ebay and won. The KEY is to follow up with ebay shortly after the claim is filed, and ask to speak with a dispute representative. State your case unequivocably, firmly, and back it up with the photos and any and all correspondence between you and the seller, which they can see anyways if it is through the ebay contact system. When I did that, they ruled in my favor and over the phone!! Seller got the guitar back and Ebay paid the return shipping with a label they sent me.
TalismanRich Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Mark, talk about good news/ bad news. So sorry to hear about your son-in-law's diagnosis. Hopefully they caught it at an early stage, its one of the more treatable types. Help him keep a positive attitude and hopefully he'll be finished with treatments by the time the twins arrive. He's got a lot of reasons to want to beat this. As for the moron who shipped that guitar, I would just file it with Ebay and let him fight 'em, unless you really want to bring it back. I know that either the factory or Aaron could restore it. The roughed up neck can be sanded and resprayed. Binding can be glued and pickup rings can be fixed. If you do ship it back, I would try to make it more secure... maybe a piece of loose rope in case the latches come open in the truck. Or some good masking tape would work well. You certainly couldn't do worse than that clown did.
Hfan Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Prayers and best wishes for your family Mark. As a buyer on e bay I believe you have protection for this. I've heard that they support the buyer even for non issues yours is a major deal."Item not as described". Not that I use e bay anymore, too many horror stories for me.
sykofiddle Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 ebay seems to have become a risky amazon.com (i.e., mega-generic retailer). I avoid it like the plague now UNLESS I'm buying from a retailer who has a store and tons of positive feedback.
