RJLII Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I was in Chicago this week on business and stopped by Victoria Amplifiers for a visit. Nice folks and sweet amps. Lots of tone toys to lust after. I see a Regal in my future. Mark Baier (owner) offering up a demo:
FredZepp Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 lots of great choices for a sweet tone in that pic.... seems like a good place to turn up an amp.
tulk1 Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Nice amps. Give me the old Fender head sitting on the Ampeg cab.
schundog Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I didn't know they were up in Chicago! Uh-Oh, that's not that far away...haha
RJLII Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Nice amps. Give me the old Fender head sitting on the Ampeg cab. That's a Dual Showman head he says he used for a bass amp. One that was very cool was the 4x10 combo with the maroon baffle. It's a proto that never went to production. Essentially a Bassman with added reverb and trem. It was a big soft sound, ideal for jazz or anything else that calls for civility of tone.
t0aj15 Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Give me the old Fender head sitting on the Ampeg cab. Ditto.
pressure Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Victoria is located in Naperville, quite a bit south of Chicago, in a very hard to find industrial park.
Gitfiddler Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Wow, I think I'd pass out like a little girl if they let me in that amplifier paradise! Always wanted to play with Victoria.
212Mavguy Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Vickies are very, very, very... nice amps. Well done! Boutique guitars for boutique amps, Boutique amps for boutique guitars!
BLS Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Victoria make some killer amps! How long did you get to hang out and jam?
RJLII Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Victoria make some killer amps! How long did you get to hang out and jam? I was there an hour or so. These were great people. Very jazzed about what they do, and equally jazzed that folks like us are also jazzed about what they do. Mark has the best job in the world. Like he says in the vid: "I can't think of anything I like to do better than to play the guitar, and this job lets me play as often and as loud as I want"
