Wilde L90 pickups

Just installed a set of Bill Lawrence Wilde L90 pickups in the H150. I know last week I installed a set of Phat Kats in it. And I know I have a problem.. But boy these L90 really sound good. Did the 50's wiring mod at the same time and stuck a set of P/O 0.022 caps on the tone pots. The neck pu is definitely not muddy. Perhaps a black pickup with twin rails is not as visually pleasing as a standard humbucker but so far I can't complain about the sound.. Got a 2.9H in the neck and a 6.0H in the bridge. 2.9H is closer to a P90 sound according to Becky Lawrence.

Anybody tried these before?

Care to share a photo? As long as the L90s sound good, that's the main thing. Guitarists should not cling to old appearances if a chance for an improved sound is possible. And it's fun to see a different look. That said, I tend to keep the pickups that come with a guitar and enjoy that sound. If I want a different sound, I'll use that as an excuse and buy a different guitar or order an instrument with my specs. I do have a 1983 G-brand with two Bill Lawrence pickups and the tone is outstanding.

Waiting to hear back from Becky on a set of L45s. Guess those are about half of your L90s .... :laughing7: I've heard nothing but good stuff about Bill's Wilde Pickups. Pics would be nice, if you can.

Here's a quick photo of the H150 20th Anniv. with the L90's installed. Need to document all my Heritages a little better..

wow. what a top. That does look a bit "off", but if it sounds great, who cares. Worked for Gary Moore!

I've got Bill Lawrence/ Wilde P'ups in my Benford Tele, L-200's. Absolutely love them...

I have a set of L-90s in one of my Carvin SC90s. I have a set of Wilde L-500s in my Hamer. I love Bill's pickups.

I am beginning to feel the love for Bill's pickups too. Can't wait to go home and play. This is the first time I thought, " this guitar really rocks". I may have to put the L200's in my Warmoth Tele.. But these are not breaking the bank account. They sound great and are reasonably priced..

Instead of the L200s I recommend a set of his Microcoils. It's an unorthodox design and it's not technically noiseless. But they are very, very quiet. And they are the most versatile Tele pickup I've ever used. They are about as powerful as humbuckers but still have the Tele tone we all love. I have a set in a Malden Mozak.

Great pickups and priced well below market as you deal direct. Have Bill Lawrence pups in my Strat they sound fantastic, no hum. Put some in my PRS as well.

The only negative is you can't tell someone you paid $350- $500 for a set.

Now, there's a plus to that negative! ;)
