ghumba Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 OK, based on the advice/recommendations of the HOC crowd, I bought a Heritage Prospect off of ebay. I wanted to replace the pickup bezels. Currently they're black, I much prefer cream. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Do Gibson 335 or Les Paul bezels fit? Is this something you need to order from Heritage? Here's a link to the guitar that's coming my way: http://www.ebay.com/...9#ht_500wt_1158 The last guitar I bought off of ebay had some neck issues. I'm hoping this one is in better shape.
High Flying Bird Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I had this issue with a gold 535 several years ago. I got Ren to send me the bezels... after my check had cleared.
H Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Pickup rings from StewMac or similar will be fine as your pickups are Seth Lovers with a single adjustment screw each side. The new rings probably won't fit well to the body contours without a little work. This is how to do it: - Remove strings - Remove pickup rings and let the pickups drop down in the holes - Put a piece of fine grade sandpaper between the bridge and the neck. It should be wider than the pickup rings. - Put the neck pickup ring on the sandpaper and gently use the contoured space between the pickup holes to apply the same contour to the base of the neck pickup ring. Try to stay more toward the neck pickup end as the contour is slightly different to the bridge end. Remove the sandpaper and check periodically whether you have got it done. - Repeat for bridge ring, staying closer to the bridge pickup hole - Reassemble the pickups and rings and screw to the body - Fit strings and tune up - Play the snot out of it Less than half an hour's work for a perfectly matched set of pickup rings . Good luck and well done on snagging that beautiful Prospect!

tulk1 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Prospects are my favorite Heritage guitar. Congrats on getting such a cool looking one.
kidsmoke Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Score!! Beautiful Prospect! And I like H's take on custom sanding the rings! let us know how it goes.

I suppose every guitar is going to be slightly different and thus needs custom care. Thanks for all the well wishes, I'm super pumped!
