What kind of magnets are used in the HRW pickups?

I'm thinking about getting a 2003 555 and it has the HRW pickups. Does anyone know if the HRW uses Alnico II or Alnico V magnets? Or, something else? Also, what other pickups on the market are most similar to the HRW's?

Thanks!

The HRW pickups are made from Schaller Golden 50 pickups, which come with AlNiCo 5 magnets. However, it would not be very hard to change the magnet to something else like an AlNiCo 2 or AlNiCo 3. I'm also pretty sure if you asked, you'd get told it's part of the secret recipe.

Thank you for the info! I appreciate it.

Deurloo told me if i tried to disassemble my HRWs, they'd self-destruct. that's not a quote, but the gist. anyway, i never had a spare $100-150 to test that :)

Another question: Are the HRWs wax potted?

Thanks again for all the info!

I seriously doubt any of us have peeked under the hood to find out....

I'm certain that they are.

I've got a set of HRWs in my Millie and a set of non-potted Seth Lovers in my H150. There's no hint of micro-phonic sound from the HRWs.

And that Millie sounds awesome when paired up with a KBP810 Reverb Deluxe!

I almost certain I was told by Ren that the HRWs are made with A5s.

They have the output and clarity of A5s and I would bet anything that is what they are.
