ladhilbluesband Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 So I have been actively searching for a 525 for quite some time and only have seen one in the last 6 months. I don't care to buy new and I'm somewhat impatient so I'm not starting to look at Gibson and Epiphone. Pretty much everything about the 525 appeals to me, must have P90s, I don't want THE jazzbox but something that can do jazz well but also can do blues/alternative. I don't want a 4 inch think body (I don't think). So I've been researching the 125s the TD TDCs etc as well as the 135, 137 and even the 175s. Do you guys have a comments recommendations, things to stay away from etc? Even the Epiphone Casino Elitist seems like a really sweet guitar. I'm thinking I want fully hollow so that might eliminate the 135/137.
H Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 With all respect, this is a Heritage forum: think about the question you have just asked.
DetroitBlues Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 There is a used 530 at the Guitar Center in Canton, MI.
barrymclark Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Well, the Heritage 525 and 530 are based off the ES 125 and ES 330. Not sure what Gibson modern day equivalents there are... but maybe that will give you a place to start.
ladhilbluesband Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 I know this is a Heritage forum and I will gladly buy a 525 over a Gibby BUT I figured the guys who actually dig Heritage guitars will know what in the Gibson lineup will compare. I can start the same discussion elsewhere but very people people seem to play Heritage guitars so I figured I'd start at the source. Who's Brent??
gpuma Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Who's Brent?? Brent is a legendary character in Heritagian mythology. A men with 12 arms able to grab any Heritage guitar within a mile (and then give it back)
ladhilbluesband Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 So he's the jerk who stole the 525 off of Ebay today from me....I knew it.
Guest HRB853370 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 poor idea to call brent a jerk . . . I think he was saying that in a rather joking manner with no harm intended.
Guest HRB853370 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Nothing wrong at all with this thread, but it should be moved to the family tree if it calls for a discussion of Gib***. I am sure the moderators will move it soon. The little more you will pay for a Heritage will be well worth it. That said, you may have a difficult time finding a 525, as very few of them pop up on the forum or even on Fleabay.
Jazzerous Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 What sound ,style music are you looking to get out of the 525-530 . I was looking at the 575 0r 175 looking for a particular sound and found it with a laminated top E5 guitar . I tried the 575and 175 and both were too thuddy and had feedback issues ended up loving the 535 sound and a E-5 . Now I am thinking of a Super Eagle . Sometimes if you can identify a piece of music you are wanting to emulate people can have a clearer picture of what your after . Or maybe i should just sleep it off!!!!
MartyGrass Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 So he's the jerk who stole the 525 off of Ebay today from me....I knew it. If buying a 525 makes someone a jerk, I'm guilty, guilty and guilty! I know you were just funnin'.
DetroitBlues Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 So he's the jerk who stole the 525 off of Ebay today from me....I knew it. Lucky for you, he doesn't hold on to them for long, nor does he favor semi-hollow or hollow bodies.
dr_iggi Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I am guilty as well. There is nothing in the current Gibson lineup that compares to the H525 or H530. The ES330 might be close but no cigar!
DetroitBlues Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Isn't a Casino and a ES330 about the same guitar?
