HenrikB Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I've decided to swap the SD pearly gates in my H150 with a set of more mid-honky PAF clones.I've had good experience with Jason Lollar's low wind Imperials but I wanna try something new and I've heard good things about throbak, wolfetone etc...Do you guys have any other suggestions?
eljay Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 hi, henrik. i'm just a boring ol' Seth Lover fan. but, if i were to get "creative" with pickups i would investigate the Bare Knuckle brand, made in england. the BK "stormy monday" model intrigues me. good luck with your quest! eljay
proxmax Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 i'm a big fan of those PRS 57/08s i have in my 150. you should check also the bareknuckles abraxas.
Alfonzo Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I just ordered a set of Wolftone Marshallheads, pure pafs that are hot, 8.2k neck, 9k bridge. waiting for them to come in. Wolfe was great to deal with. http://www.wolfetone.com/marshallhead.html#
brentrocks Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 i have Throbaks in my Alex Skolnick H 150 and im very pleased
Spectrum13 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 All of the above plus the hand made Kent Armstrong. I could not be more pleased with the Throbaks that came on my 575. Jon has been to one of our forum PSPs, has the original PAF winder. Mine came out of a set of ten he sent to Heritage.

zguitar71 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 http://www.sdpickups.com/humbuckers.shtml Try these, he makes exact copies of PAF's, lots of sound clips and videos.
pressure Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I'll have a set of Stevens Design humbuckers in the Mille that Heritage is building for me. You can hear them at PSP.
bolero Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I like Wolfetone Legends a lot....they're pretty honky also use & am a fan of Lollar Imperial's, Throbak's, Seth's it gets to a point where it doesn't really matter, they all sound very good!!
Kuz Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I own/use 5 sets of Throbaks, so I guess you know where I cast my vote.....
redshark Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I have Lindy Fralin pure PAF in my H150 and love them!!
Wolfi Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I swaped the SD 59's of my H 150 with Amber Spirit PAF 59 (They are now named "Spirit of 59"). Not the cheepest pups under the sun, but worth every EURO or Dollar. They come from Berlin/Germany and the really sound great. A wonderful vintage PAF Tone. Check this out: and this one, too: But I'm sure the differences between Amber PAF 59's or Throbacks or other pups, are very little. Enjoy
mtpatty Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 those amber pickups sound great- I love Bare Knuckle pickups and have several sets....would love to try some Kloppmman's!
Joey Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I have Lindy Fralin pure PAF in my H150 and love them!! Same sentiment with Fralin Pure PAFs in my H555
HenrikB Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 I got a bit carried away so I ended up with a set of Lollar regular winds, new bone nut, RS electronics premium vintage kit, Tonepros bridge and aluminum tailpiece... This should do the trick, eh? Ready, set, go!!
yngwie308 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I metWCR's builders in 2008. I can also highly rectoend TIM Mills amazing Bare Knuckles. TIM is the real deal and can wind anything. I have conversed with him on other matters and found him to be most helpful and knowledgable.
