Millenium Eagle 2000 break angle

Bolero and I were discussing the break angle on our Millies. His has a Bigsby while mine has a H tailpiece.

I have not had a string pop out of the bridge saddle yet. Nor has he.

It's a slow day, so I'll post the break angle pics. Caution: the guitar needs dusting.

This illustrates one thing I like about the schaller roller bridge, it provides a good break angle. On my 157 I can crank the tail all the way down to the body and the strings don't hit the bridge edge.

actually that's not true: if I do any extreme bends I run the risk of popping a string out

I will post some pics of mine later, busy weekend!!

I'd like to see how yours compares with the Bigsby without a pressure bar.

So far, no strings have popped out on the three Millie Eagle 2000s I've had. But I don't bend beyond a whole step. My strings are 10-52s also, so they may be on the heavier side.

Someone with a protractor can measure the break angle on the pictures above. It's a little obtuse, just like its owner.

here's some pics of mine, sorry crappy phone camera

Marty can you get some more direct-side shots of yours? will be easier to compare if the camera angle is 90 degrees rather than down at an angle like that

I think the ideal bigsby for a Millie would be a B7...there is no break angle problem with a stock flying trapeze but ideally you'd want that bar to hold the strings down unlike my B3...I mean it works OK but it really depends on the neck angle of the particular gtr.

....just like some gtrs can't top wrap, and some can, depending on how shallow the neck angle is. steeper neck angle = higher bridge & more chance of topwrapping...or getting away with a B3 bigsby

Top wrapping on a standard tailpeice really helps fix this problem.

I don't get what you mean? neither of these gtrs have a standard tailpiece, or even studs to install one?

if anything, topwrapping makes strings more susceptible to not enough tension on the bridge?
