fretless Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 Thanks Steiner ! I still have mixed feelings about the poker chip but I'll go along with it for fun for awhile . btw FYI , GC has the Gibby Poker chips in store for less than 4 bucks http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-Black-Switch-Washer-100270798-i1128040.gc
Gitfiddler Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 That turned out nicely!! And the custom trc is a nice touch too.
TalismanRich Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I like the looks of that. The cream Klusons match up with the cherry very well. Great job!
fretless Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 Thanks Fellas ! The tuners are top shelf , they really feel great and have a slightly finer ratio which works better for me as well . Glad I went with that satin finish too ! As many of you know the bottom screw already lined up and with these Tonepros TPKB3 sets they fit the hole size . Good stuff for sure .
Kuz Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Kluson tuners... yay! Cream covers.... nay! What Rich said!!!
Kuz Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 No PG's ! Amen to that!!! In my opinion (and only my opinion), more 137 are visually destroyed by pickguards than any other guitar. The 137 looks GREAT naked.
fretless Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 I backed off that idea for now I was gonna share this later but now is as good as any . I redid the nut on this guitar because the one I bought last time was spaced at 1 - 21/64th and the stock is 1 13/32" just a wee tighter than it is stock ,so that took several hrs and I lost interest in the cream thing but the nut came out really sweet . No biggie but I wanted to work that out , one of the lads here pointed it out the first time I did the nut . And here's the thing . Stew mac has since put up a very helpful PDF with the exact nut size and string spacing . First of all these preslotted , unbleached nuts are pure awesome and while they do need final slotting and maybe a wee shaping , most of the work is done . Get this PDF for your future nuts http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/a-slottedbonenuts/6001VS.pdf http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Nuts,_saddles/String_nuts/Slotted_Unbleached_Bone_Nuts.html
fretless Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 Thank you Fellas ! It took a long while to get up the nerve to mod her but I think it was a good choice . She plays better and sounds better than ever and still has all the mojo.
DetroitBlues Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Amen to that!!! In my opinion (and only my opinion), more 137 are visually destroyed by pickguards than any other guitar. The 137 looks GREAT naked. I would say 140 and 150's...
schundog Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Once you go Black....Well, you know the rest.... I dig the tuners, though.
FredZepp Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I always think of this one of mine as being... Cherry Cream...

Good stuff for sure . that's great to hear! gettin' me all excited. Fretless, dunno how we managed this, but we've been swirling in a parallel universe. from the day I bought my 535, I knew I wanted to replace the too hot duncans with covered PAF's. While I waited for the discretionary dollars to "do it right" I considered what all else I'd like to do to the guitar. Seems we draw many of the same conclusions. In addition to the AN hardware that I had planned, that ended up as Faber, I also ordered AN TPK tuners, and pickups, all around fathers day. I'll do a thorough rundown on everything in my own thread when she's done. You've got a great axe there. Love it.

There is some really fantastic "bolt on / drop in" upgrades that improves on what is all ready there without changing the looks or what we are all used to already .And improve on things like the bushing holes with ease . I cannot wait for you thread it's going to be sweet to see come together . Thanks man ! Cheers , Scott
tbonesullivan Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 if you put cream on you've gotta put on gold hardware. I've got two hamer specials: one has cream p90s, one has black. the one with cream is candy apple red with gold hardware. The one with black is cherry red with chrome hardware.
BrianToth Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Love the tuners! Gotta put them on my cheery Prospect. I especially like the finer ratio. Nice work.
