MartyGrass Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 This arrived very securely packed with tons of peanuts. The guitar is 21 years old with a yellowed binding, obvious patina, and a few small dings to attest to its age. The neck is medium-thin, straight and a shallow D. The frets have almost no wear. The general feel is that of a 575 with slightly more heft from a thin center block and a heavier bridge and tailpiece. It sounds acoustically just like a 575 to me. Sometime after it was made the guitar was sent back to Heritage. The wiring harness was upgraded and HRWs were installed. For some reason the 4 point mount system was used- nice but what's the point? HRWs have always been the bane of me (not the Romney Bain!). I have never been able to tame them. I'll try again. Tone report later. Cell phone pics:
kidsmoke Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 very cool MG. Have fun getting to know each other!
2bornot2bop Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Marty, I'm diggin' that finish. She's got a serious antique jazz archtop vibe to her.
NoNameBand Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Nice acquisition MG. Don't think I've ever seen one.
FredZepp Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 It's a classic Heritage in finish and the fine woods. And it should be classic Heritage in tone and playablility also. Enjoy that sweet axe... and good luck taming the HRW's..
Steiner Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I knew when I saw your post that there would be porn! YEA!!! Nice toy: HNGD!
schundog Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Congratulations, Doc! My question is, how are you going to decide which Heritages to bring to PSP?!
Guest HRB853370 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Congratulations, Doc! My question is, how are you going to decide which Heritages to bring to PSP?! Not an issue for him. He lives close to Kalamazoo.
heritagefan7 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Awesome MG. Beautiful. Hope you really enjoy it! Congrats.
fxdx99 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Congrats! Have liked 576s since playing yoslate's at PSPI. Very nice voicing.
Singerman Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Wow, beautiful guitar. That's the second impressive landing you've had at your house this month, my hat is tipped.
bolero Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 wow congrats, that is a beauty indeed!! I had a 576 for a while it was a great instrument
hotfordcoupe Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Now that's what I call a choice acquisition. I hope it plays as well as it looks. Can't beat those sunburst Heritage finishes.
soybean Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 It sounds acoustically just like a 575 to me. My 576 sounds similar to the 575, but slightly less acoustic and more compressed. Where you can really feel the difference is at a live gig. Once the volume goes above a certain level, the 575 gets wimpy where the 576 has a lot more authority in the tone and sustain. My pref is usually the 575 for jazz, but the 576 wins for louder jazz gigs where there might be vocals, two guitars, electric bass, synth and hard hitting drums.
