MartyGrass Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 I decided to do the guitar in gold. That looks good on it. I pulled everything out of the body and will piece by piece make the conversion- no hurry. It does need pups though. After I cleaned it up I am impressed at how good it looks for 21 years.
t0aj15 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I would like to ask first of all why is the OP speaking of himself in the third person, and secondly why go through all that? I had a true master guitar tech (Mike Koontz) change my p/up's and replace a bad 1/4" output jack all for $55. Picked it up the next day and everything was golden. IMO it makes way more sense to let the pro's do their work and let me concentrate on just playing my guitar.

The purpose of pushing the personal envelope with guitar work is for enjoyment. Yes, someone could do it better than me at a decent cost. But using the same reasoning, why should I play the guitar when I can listen to the masters do that for me and save a ton of money? Your point nonetheless is well taken by Marty.
TalismanRich Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I love watching masochist guitarists torture themselves by change the wiring harness on hollow body guitars! When I did the 535, adding the treble bleed, everything seemed to go smoothly, until I found out that the tone control on the neck pickup didn't work. I managed to break the lead off the capacitor. Everything had to be pulled back out plus I needed to buy a new capacitor. I don't look forward to changing it out any time soon. I'll stick with the solid bodies. Next project is to gut the Legacy and cover the insides with copper ground tape.
