Balladeer Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Two weeks ago I bought a used H535. It has Schaller pickups. Many H535 owners prefer Seth Lovers. I like the Anitquies I have in another guitar. I intended to replace the Schallers with Seth Lovers tonight. I started with the neck pickup and ran into a major problem - the long legs on the Seth will not work in my H535. Will I encounter the same problem with the bridge pickup? How did you guys get Seth Lovers into your H535?
brentrocks Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 all you need to do is take a 1" paddle bit and drill down about 1/2 an inch in the center of either side of the pickup cavity
bolero Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 you might be able to get Seths with short legs too?
tbonesullivan Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I believe that the SD' 59s and the Seth Lovers are only available with the long legs, like the original PAF pickups had. If you wanted short legs I think you'd have to alter the base plate.
tbonesullivan Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 *nod* that's exactly what they do at the factory. guitars that come with the 59's and/or seth lovers stock have the routes enlarged to handle the longer brackets.
MartyGrass Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 all you need to do is take a 1" paddle bit and drill down about 1/2 an inch in the center of either side of the pickup cavity Geez, Brent. And you were concerned about swapping the pups in my H576!
Alex78 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Another option would be getting short legs baseplates., unscrew the coils, disolder them and assemble magnet and coils on the short legs baseplate.
davesultra Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Yet another option would be... Eventhough you already have the pickups. There is this seller on ebay who has them with the shorter legs. But, they do also have 4-conductor leads. Just a thought because, I know if it were me I'd very squeamish regarding drilling into the body of my git.
