DukeTestament Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Hi Folks. Recently, I came across what appears to be a black 1987 H-140. This is a well used instrument with a missing pickguard. What appears interesting is that it has a single humbucker. I searched through the photo gallery and could not find a photo of a H140 with a single humbucker. Does these exist?
davesultra Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 There was a black one on ebay a month ago or so. The seller had listed it several times before it dissapeared. It most likely was a special order or a one-off. I don't ever remember a production single bucker 140 or 150. But then again, due to the low volume of guitars produced by The Heritage, just 'bout everything is a custom!!!
DukeTestament Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 Thanks for the tip kind sir! I just did a completed listing search on eBay and although I couldn't come across the single humbucker black guitar you mentioned, I did see several H-120 models (e.g. "HERITAGE '85 H-120 ELECTRIC GUITAR - THE BLUE ONE"). Maybe what I found is an entry level H-120? Are these any good? The asking price is $300 and the axe is missing a pickguard.
SouthpawGuy Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 H-120s are bolt on neck guitars. However there is a possibility that one was made with a set neck. My own '86 VIP2 is a set neck guitar, every other VIP2 and VIP1 that I've seen has been bolt on. Check the label on the reverse of the control cavity cover, the model name is often written there. There was a single pickup 150 gold top on Ebay maybe eighteen months / two years ago, there should be a thread in the baywatch area.
DetroitBlues Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 The 120 is nothing to look down upon, basically a 137 with a bolt on neck and no tone control. They are not made anymore but in my opinion, a great entry level Heritage. $300 is a steal...
FredZepp Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 At one time , a store in Cincinnati had a first edtion H-140 that was a single pickup . It is no longer listed there. It was a great looking guitar.
