shook494 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 First I would like to apologize to forum member Millennium Maestro for not calling back. I will just say it's been a crazy several months. So I decided to sell my motorcycle because I figured I can't crash on a guitar:) I've missed my Darkburst 150 since I had to sell it. So I get the cash for the bike and let ti sit for a few weeks cuz I've just been swamped with life and work. I finally get some down time one day and walk in to Guitar Center in Las Vegas to see what used gear they have. One of the sales guys was literally hanging two Heritage guitars on the used wall. I almost wet myself!!! A gold top 140 that looks untouched and this beauty, a 2000 Amber 157 CM. This also looks untouched. Not a scratch!! The only thing I see that has been changed is the roller bridge. I could not believe the price and immediately told him it was sold. Then he says "OK but, you can't pick it up until the 25th of July cuz we have to put a police hold on it to make sure it doesn't turn up stolen." Uggghhh!! It sat there for more than a month after I paid for it. It was worth the wait. The only thing I will change as of right now is the Schaller tail piece. I just don't love the looks of those. The pickups are the original Schaller and sound great to me right now. I may throw in SD's later sometime or just take the covers off of these? Who knows. I'm in love with it right now and very glad to be back in the family. I was going to hold out for an amber 150 but I'll take this on any day. I love this color on guitars.
Gitfiddler Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Good for you, Shook! GC is usually clueless when it comes to pricing Heritage. Their bad...your good!! Great color, by the way. What's the neck profile on that baby?
mars_hall Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Excellent Hugh! and dibs should you ever have a weaker moment. Get a TP-6 tailpiece for it.
hotfordcoupe Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Well done, Shook. Very well done. If I were in a GC and saw a Heritage, I'd wet myself too. Some of those salesmen at my local GC didn't even know what a D'Angelico guitar was let alone a Heritage.
davesultra Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Excellent score! Seem 2 be alot of 157s' being gobbled up lately! I should know, just scored a white one last week.
kbp810 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Great find on an amazing looking guitar - that is an incredible top! Well done on the NGD pics, the more the merrier
FredZepp Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Great guitar !! And a great story of rescuing it from a GC.....
shook494 Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 Thanks for all of the kind comments. I do feel lucky right about now:)

Tallershadows Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 That is the ugliest guitar I have ever seen. You should sell it... immediately... to me. Just kidding. Sweet guitar. Used heritages are definitely the best deals around. Congrats.
smokedtires Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Wow what a beauty! Great find at GC, I've kinda given up on finding such top shelf gear there.
Guest HRB853370 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Hoping you got a great deal on that! GC can overprice used gear sometimes, but sounds like you are happy. I would be too with that stunner. Also, I really like the recessed input jack. My 2000 150 has one like that. Can be problematic if it goes bad, but I like the look. Great job!
heritagefan7 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Super git and great find!---It's so awesome to have a great NGD---Congrats and enjoy!
