NHD-but a small problem

Will, this is no big deal. The pot was probably bent when they put on the knobs. I have seen this many times. That guitar is not damaged. Bend it back and go on with it. If you break it then you have a problem.

When who put on the knobs Ron? Take a look at the broken knob and the bent shaft.

Oh shoot! Now I see the where the wood is damaged. That is a different story. That's-a-problem. I thought the tabs were just bent in to close.

I replaced the pots in my 137 with CTS pots from Stewmac. Be damn careful with a soldering iron around that wood. I burnt the back of the 137 when I was replacing my posts and caps. Thank goodness I was just a few weeks away from having it buffed at 225 Parsons while we watched Larry get his Bird.

looks like somebody tried to remove the knob with a screwdriver. the wood damage will be covered, at least 85%....but somebody should be bitch slapped for trying to remove a knob like that....total dumb-assedness :icon_scratch:

take a red sharpie and color in the exposed wood and that will hide most of it

Nope, the knobs slide right off without prying. There was a trauma to that knob which is why it bent the shaft and cracked the finish. Seller claims it left his home undamaged. Not arguing with him, he seemed courteous and he refunded $50 to my paypal account. The repair will be $32 and the rest was for my gas expense to get to the shop. He sent the refund before I even had a chance to send him photos of the damage. No worries, it will be like new. I have some nail polish that will match that color very close, so I will touch it up and as Brent said, it wont be visible once I install speed knobs.

Good ending to this. The guy refunded $50 to my pay pal and apologized for whatever happened. Thats fine with me, I can get it fixed now and I will have a killer guitar.

I'm glad to see it worked out like it should have. I wonder if the seller thought he could get away with it. The fact that he refunded the money shows me he's a reasonable seller.

True, and I honestly cannot understand how he DID NOT know about this problem. Could be he just didnt play the guitar much and was not aware of it. Sadly, the original photos do not show closeups of the knobs where I could detect if there was a problem to begin with.
