Hey gang, I am new to this forum and a potential heritage owner. Some good people over at mylespaul forum suggested I stop here if I have any heritage questions

I come across a very plain top h150 a year or two or three old, but not used, just never sold from this dealer.

I can get it for around 2000 us dollars. But it is To plain for me for that kind of dough.

I also found a brand new 25th anniversary H150 I will probably try out this week. 2350 us dollars .

Assuming I like it and it fits what I want, is 2350 about right for this in your opinion ? there may be some room to come down. Little, but not sure how much yet.

I saw one on e bay auction starting at 1500 , but I think it was used.

If anyone Has any opinions, I appreciate it.

Thanks

Hey Jerry. Welcome to the club. I have 4 words for you about that new 25th Anniv. 150...

OK, maybe a few more words...

Guitars are slow movers in this economy. I be that Heritage 150 has been hanging around the shop for a while. Set your maximum price and make the dealer a reasonable offer. You might get lucky and bring home a collectable 150. If so, make sure you post pictures for us to ogle over.

Good luck!

Hey gitfiddler, that is definely sound advice :-)

I don't mind the store making some money, ( assuming I will get the proper service from them , etc. ) . But not knowing what heritages go for and that one specifically, I didn't want to walk away from the deal if what they are asking is fair, and at the same time, I don't want to be paying more than what most are asking.. So just trying to figure out where my low end and max should be... Anyway, thanks for the welcome and if I do get this, I will definitely post pics !

Used 150s often go for much less right here, good bunch of core members who wheel and deal on occasion. BTY, welcome.

Hey Jerry~ That is not a bad price for the 25th Anniversary, but be sure to let the dealer know that you are a member of the HOC. If he's aware of our little cult...er, I mean club, he might give you a price break. It also depends on how bad you want that particular 150, and how bad he wants to move it.

As Hfan stated above, 150's come up for sale fairly regularly and some are real winners. Anniversary models do not show up as often.

But if you really want the new one you have a line on............

Used 150's on this site;

If you are a collector buy the anniversary model. Keep it shinny, talk to your friends about, and wait for the value to rise. If you are a player, buy used and play the crap out of it. Either way you can't lose.

I find the price and value of a quality instrument subjective to the buyer and seller. Negotiate what you think is fair.

You might do some price checking at Wolfe Guitars. He is probably the largest Heritage dealer in the USA. Web page here:

http://www.gbase.com...itars/inventory

Do a search for Heritage or 150.

Wolfe might have the two 150s he is referring to. If it were I, I would talk the 25th Anniv down $150-200 and have the guitar of my dreams. But that is just me. I don't like to compromise, if I don't have the money then I save until do or until a guitar I REALLY want comes along.

Good Luck!!!!

If you are interested in new old stock H150s, there is a nice natural one plus a VSB for sale I know of. This dealer is getting rid of his Heritages. I bought two from him and recommend him without reservation.

Here are pictures of the natural. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item27ca48626f&item=170897465967&nma=true&pt=Guitar&rt=nc&si=S5zMXg%252FjsfRsEsIZMJVaAaQqg5s%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

He will send you pics of the VSB if you ask.

I'd offer him $1500 shipped put on a credit card. I'll bet he'll take it.

His name is Tim. You can email him at TBeck39528@aol.com

There is a greater assurance buying with a credit card from a dealer.

If you really want a 25th Anniversary model, I think Jimmy Wallace still has one that's new. I'll bet $1800 would get it.

I called and wrote to him about that one and NEVER got a response.

Then a sweet PRS SC24 ended up in my closet.

Too bad for Jimmy Wallace. I was ready to buy.

You may also be interested in an H-157 as they have some different appointments than the H-150 but are the same basic guitar.

I have not looked at the H-157 yet.

But I think I will be taking the 25th Anv H-150 for a spin tomorrow. I will get a feel for it.

I also have an opprortunity for a Used R8 with upgrades for a reasonble price, so not sure what I am going to do yet. I have not tried neither yet, so I hope to know this week.

Thanks for all the links and tips from everyone.

a nice r8 is a good choice, fer shure, if you like the price. h150s are da shizzle! you'll do well either way.

if you go gibson, you're still welcome in the HOC, of course

Jerry,

Welcome to the cult!

Why not look at all the Heritages: http://www.heritageguitar.com/indexf.html

I tend to identify what model I'm looking for and have learned that buying used is a much better deal. I'd say $1350-1400 is a good deal. Once you get down to $700-$1000 there may be a lot of nicks, or a very old guitar, or a repaired headstock, but will very likely still sound/play good. I've also bought new ones, and custom made.
