TalismanRich Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Excellent choice on grabbing a 535. For me its a "go to" guitar. They feel great, and there is little that you can't do with one. If there's ever a question about "what guitar should I use?", that's the one to pull out.
soundsbeyondspecs Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Thank you all very much for taking the time to say hello. I recognize almost everyone from posts. FredZep - special thanks for posting the photos. The seller may have said TSB. I was looking at similar TSB finishes on pre-owned Gibson's and Collings'. It arrived yesterday and I showed it to the Swart dealer/player today. He said the tuner's handles looked like ebony. The backs say Made in Germany next to one "S" shaped line - the seller thought they were possibly Grover's. The Heritage label says H-535 Classic. Antiquity. O.S.B. I requested all historical paperwork and luckily the seller included the original Wolf Guitars invoice, warranty card and three business cards from Jay Wolf in Jupiter. The invoice says New Custom Heritage 35 Special guitar, case, OSB, Antiquities and 2003 selling price of 1774.00. Jay Wolf signed the invoice and warranty card. kidsmoke - A member who just had a 555 FS and informed me Heritage may add a laminated headstock to 535's for 150.00. The day I bought it, I played five 335's at JAX's Guitar Center. This one has the MoJo. Musically, it's the most versatile guitar I've played and feels and sounds way-beyond its' original price point. It's great player's guitar. Thanks again.
FredZepp Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 That OSB finish looks perfect on that guitar...
soundsbeyondspecs Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 My thanks to the original buyer for offering such a nice guitar. The OSB black grains running through the brown sunset blend and disappear smoothly into the black surround. The back looks like a Monet water painting during a late sunset. The black, browns, ivory and hardware all match in a beautiful, understated way. I set out for a reference quality instrument to match and train my ears much better. This is a great guitar for digging in deep and exploring acoustic overtones. I never knew so many tones could bloom together so well. It's so enjoyable, I miss the sounds during breaks. The 535 posts greatly helped during a well-researched buying process. It's the perfect choice to help train my ears into becoming a more natural, intuitive player.
