DetroitBlues Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Whew! You got them finally! I was getting worried because tracking stopped when they left the US.
kidsmoke Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Pulling stock Schallers, H? BB pros should sound pretty sweet in that thing. Cool project!
H Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Whew! You got them finally! I was getting worried because tracking stopped when they left the US. Yep, thanks for a great trade, Josh I thought they were still in Chicago until I got home
H Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Pulling stock Schallers, H? BB pros should sound pretty sweet in that thing. Cool project! Yes, and these Schallers sound really nice so I may be making the wrong move! I saw a pic of an ASB 150 with zebra pickups in the latest PSP group shot and decided I wanted that look. DB had a set of zebra BB Pros for sale and here we are
yoslate Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Really fabulous 150, Howard! I just pulled a set of Burstbuckers (not Pro's) out of the Nash Les Paul. And in doing that, came to realize what a very good pickup they are! What I replaced them with, I like, as well, but the Bb's are a fine set. Always loved the tulip tuners! Do let us see the finished product!
pegleg32 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Those should sound great Howard!!! It's always fun to try new pickups as they often are like getting a whole new guitar that plays just as good as the old one!!! You should do some clips.

Do let us see the finished product! It truly is a lovely piece of wood, Rob That's what Heritage are all about: functional beauty. The tulip tuners work better for me aesthetically and have the added advantage of being less than half the weight of the Rotomatics. And yes, there will be pics (complete with 'H' mug and tablecloth of the month for Hfan) of the mini project when I undertake it this weekend

Thanks Don, I'm looking forward to hearing the difference. Clips are a great idea - I may even do 'before' and 'after' with exactly the same amp settings!
PunkKitty Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Nice! I really like Burstbucker Pros. Great sounding pickups.
kidsmoke Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Thanks Don, I'm looking forward to hearing the difference. Clips are a great idea - I may even do 'before' and 'after' with exactly the same amp settings! A thought I'd had, after the fact.
H Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Nice! I really like Burstbucker Pros. Great sounding pickups. They're an unknown quantity for me so I'm taking a bit of a gamble really. I like low output PAF types and these are a bit higher than that. I hear a lot of good reports of them so I'll keep my fingers crossed that I like them
DetroitBlues Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 If you want an idea of how they sound, try out a Gibson LP standard or a faded cherry or mahogany LP. Those come BB pros. The normal studios and faded ebony do not.

Hfan Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Greetings Howard, beautiful 150. Hope the transplant goes well.
H Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Greetings Howard, beautiful 150. Hope the transplant goes well. Thanks Pete Might slam on a new tablecloth for you in the pics
DetroitBlues Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Thanks - I think I'll be trying them in an ASB 150 first Works for me!
tsp17 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Pulling stock Schallers, H? BB pros should sound pretty sweet in that thing. Cool project! +1
bolero Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Great looking guitar!! Cool project et us know how it goes!
ledzef Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Have to let us know what you think of the BB pros. I had them in '07 LP and didn't care for them. Really do enjoy the Lollar Imperial HIgh wind in the neck and my Manlius Chicago blues humbucker in the bridge.
H Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Have to let us know what you think of the BB pros. Will do I'm doing the work this weekend so it won't be long
H Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 OK, let's get started. Cup of tea in the 'H' mug, nice tablecloth on for Pete (HFan) and all the bits I need
H Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 This is what I like about locking bridges and tailpieces All my settings stay set, even upside down
H Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Schallers out and mountings removed. Schallers are short leg pickups, Burstbuckers are long leg.
H Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Burstbuckers wired up. This 150 came from Wolfe's.
