JeffB Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Because I dont have enough and I keep forgetting that they mostly sound the same. I ordered a Jetter Red square Its got buttons, switches, lights and dials, so Im pretty excited about it. Ive got a feeling it will be "the one". Its actually two. Ive had this feeling before many times right before I hit the buy now button. But this is different to the other times. Its white with red writing. I didnt really think much of the demo's Ive heard and cant really see how it will be different from anything else I have or have had. Im expecting it to be another od pedal. But I also have high expectations that this is the one that will have good looking women with intelligent smiles, dark smouldering eyes, suggestively arched eyebrows and full lips coming up during breaks to tell me how much they love my tone. I will probably smile and nod and say something like, "yeh". In my mind I hear it to be the perfect blend of tight but fat bottom end with smooth highs. It wil also have bite and good natured mids. I will be able to play Mustang Sally with conviction and authority. Should have it in 10 days which generaly means it wont be here in 21 days and I will be over it before I get it and wont want to use it because of the bad feelings attached to it. (breath now). But Im an optimist so Im expecting it in 7 days and feel like we are going to be new best friends.
MartyGrass Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I'm pretty naive to OD pedals. Can't you dial up the gain on the amp for that purpose?
DetroitBlues Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I'm pretty naive to OD pedals. Can't you dial up the gain on the amp for that purpose? You could if you have the means to do so. Not many can turn their amps to 11 on here without seriously ticking off a neighbor or three...

I never learn either Jeff, luckily I have a short attention span and soon forget that there are pedals that I haven't tried and get caught up by something else. Good luck and I hope this one works out. Full tone report expected!
brentrocks Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 OD pedals to us are like heroin to a junkie...cant wait to hear it!
Steiner Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Why do they call it a red square and paint it white? Perhaps because you couldn't read the name if it were red. They certainly don't want to paint the name in any color but red. I love the way they put the little 2 on the Red2. Tricky folks; makes me want to try one too.
JeffB Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Red2. Whoa! ....................how'd you do that?

I didnt pick up on any of these details until you mentioned them. Adds to the mystique and general sense of excitement. Expectations have just now stepped up a notch. Feel like going over to the gear page and posting, "just bought a new pedal, what should I expect."
Steiner Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Clever attention to detail is often an indication of sage engineering. Your expectations should increase by a comma. It's the little things that make you (and the amp) say hmmmmm... I'm willing to wager that you have chosen well. I'd wait 'till the day after you get the pedal and try it out to go to TGP. That way you can learn of subtle nuances you haven't tried without the sinking withdrawal symptoms from not having the pedal in hand.

You've distilled the basic experience, of any of us, with any piece of equipment we've ever purchased. I'll be chortling all day over this one! Brilliant!
JeffB Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 I'm pretty naive to OD pedals. Can't you dial up the gain on the amp for that purpose? This is a good question. I dont know how to answer it. Ive tried. Got long winded and off the point. So heres a quick and rough video showing how I might use the stomps in the cover band I make noise in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuqOzD8Z5z4 Please excuse the rough recording, editing and sloppy playing.

pegleg32 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Jeff, you are a crazy man, long live all crazy men!!!! You can never have enough OD pedals, but maybe this 1 will be the 1.
fxdx99 Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Ha! Too funny. I've not heard of red-squared. Hope it really does meet your expectations... 'specially the smouldering eyes and Mustang Sally part. I've recently done something... similar. This resonates way too close to home.
koula901 Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 you'll have lots of knobbies to play with.
Gitfiddler Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 There's a reason they are called 'OD' pedals. We gear junkies are always on the verge of Over Dosing with the search for the next big tone thingy. Great post!
bgrand Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I have the GS3 and the Gain Stage Red from Jetter. On the GS3 the gain side is the same as the Gain Stage Purple, which is the same as the "shift" on the Red Square 2, it sounds GREAT! The GSR is the same as the Red side (on "red"), that on also sounds great! (although I prefer the "shift"). I had the Tritium, that is a more gainy helium (the other side of the RQ2), that also sounded awesome. To sum up, expect a very versatile and great sounding pedal.
big bob Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 You laugh but I just tried an od pedal that will melt your soul!!!! Ha,ha,ha....
Trouble Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 You laugh but I just tried an od pedal that will melt your soul!!!! Ha,ha,ha.... Come on man you can't make a statement like that and then not tell us what to throw our money at!
Trouble Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 One of the ones I've wanted to try and haven't is the Lovepedal Eternity, although there are like 12 different ones now.
JeffB Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 One of the ones I've wanted to try and haven't is the Lovepedal Eternity, although there are like 12 different ones now. I have a couple and cant sell them. The Kanjii9 doesnt work with any of my amps. Its bright and fizzy. My amps are dark sounding so I would hate to hear it through a bright amp. If I could sell them to someone without them trying it I dont think I would have a problem moving them.
JeffB Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 Oh wait, one of them is a clone I built of another variation. It sucks as well. But that's probably my fault. Im not particually methodical and always race to the end glossing over details that probably matter. Like soulder joints and right parts.
