knopfler74 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Hi Guys/Gals, I have a 157 natural finish with Dimarzio 36 aniv. PAF pups, and I'm thinking of selling it. i'm not sure what to ask. I paid 1800 for it and I'm the second owner. It has very little wear, just a few nicks on the back. I'm wondering what a fair price might be. I have a couple of pics here, but need to take more, obviously because none of them show the little nicks on the back..nothing through the finish and nothing egregious, of course. Thanks for the help!
heritagefan7 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-HERITAGE-H-157-/290766409388?pt=Guitar&hash=item43b3074eac is listed at &1699 & condition of this is not nearly as good as yours & it's stock w/ no upgrades...There is a natural on Ebay, but it's new. NEw is 2400 range. Gbase only has 2 & no price. Best to you on the sale if you decide to go that way. It's a beautiful git!
DetroitBlues Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I'm going to have to demo it for awhile to give you a fair assessment... Need my address?
MartyGrass Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 What's the neck like? More pics please.
H Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I think $7.94 including shipping to the UK and fully insured. PayPal gift should be OK, right?
mars_hall Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 When looking at ebay look at the sold prices, as opposed to the listed prices.
Steiner Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 While most 157s don't get much prettier than that one (IMHO), I can only offer a price guess; 6k? The amp in the background has me intrigued. I can see you have a Vox 2x12 but what is that amp? I love the simplicity. Sometimes I think amps should have only a volume and a tone knob. Good luck with the sale, I'm going to have a tough time sitting on my hands for this one.

DetroitBlues Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I thought it looked familiar! Awesome amp!
Steiner Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 That's the Stentorian that KBP810 made for him and I named You seem to have a strong knack for amp names. There are not many men that can influence events on two continents. Nice work.

Hfan Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Yep, I've named two amps in the entire world. Should I be sizing up Poland next? What is the asking price for Poland Howard? It is a buyers market after all. That 157 is very nice. Not sure what they bring on the used market, Im sure not what they are truly worth, they are beautiful guitars. I'd guess you'd be lucky to get $1,800 used.
Guest HRB853370 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 When looking at ebay look at the sold prices, as opposed to the listed prices. exactly. the only way to determine a price is by how much a willing buyer will pay for the item.
knopfler74 Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 Thanks for the help, all. The amp is, in fact, a KBP Stentorian. That translates into a Matchless Lightning with no reverb. The amp is exceptionally simple and sounds amazing. It has far better clean sounds than most 15 watt amps, in fact, ALL of the 15 watters I've played, including the Princeton's. It also sounds amazing when pushed into overdrive, and the amp itself REALLY reacts well to different speakers, in that the tone REALLY changes and you get to hear different break up points, different eq tendencies and the like. The amp is SO good that I've completely stopped looking at other amps, save for the exception of the Egnater Tweaker, just because I think it would be a neat addition for Marshall and Fender tones As far as the 157 goes, I'm thinking of putting Duesenberg Starplayer humbuckers in it. They're a little on the expensive side, but I really LOVE the tone they get. Here's a PGS video showcasing that guitar. I think you'll see what I mean! http://proguitarshop.com/video-reviews/duesenberg-starplayer-special-blue-sparkle

knopfler74 Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 So you are keeping the 157? Man...I'm still not sure. I want to keep it, but I don't. I'm in that ridiculous space we all get in sometimes with guitars and amps where I think there's something else out there that would suit me better, but who knows.... AGHHHHH!
koula901 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Yep, I've named two amps in the entire world. Should I be sizing up Poland next? only if you can see it from your backyard.
Steiner Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Yep, I've named two amps in the entire world. Should I be sizing up Poland next? Three isn't it? What about your self created amp? Don't neglect sizing up the Czechs too. You'll need good craftspeople and mechanics on your side to rule the world. EDIT: Sorry about the hijack knopfler74. I still stand by the $6K price

Hey thanks for posting this link! I was unaware of these pups. They all sound great! I love what they do with the high end. It still seams to jangle in the way I like, but without any nasty spike in places you don't want it. I'm going to have to check these out more in the coming days, because you might have given me a winning idea for tweaking my 157 to a place where I am completely happy with it. I still sort long for a killer Tele, but I guess I could always build another Warmoth or something like that.
H Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 only if you can see it from your backyard. Damn, my backyard faces south. I guess I'll be invading the Netherlands instead

My gardener is Czech so I'll hold off invading for her sake
