...edit... Topic should be Sweet 16. Sheesh. Need to learn how to tpye.

Doing the tourist bit, found a place for lunch, and discovered they had live entertainment.

Fellow by the name of Jack Olver, who bills himself as a performer and instructor.

Jack played lots of old standards, giving each one some very cool jazzy colorations. A very fine player.

He told me he got the Sweet 16 for his 25th anniversary, and hasn't bothered playing any other guitars since then.

I gave him the sales pitch for the HOC, and very quickly described what the PSP's are all about.

Who knows, he may join the cult.

Here's Jack and his beautiful Heritage.....

That environment in the photo looks like a great place to be. Some nice music ,some flowers and plants , a bit of sunlight, nice weather .. Nice.

I'm a native Carmelite. Born and raised over the hill in Carmel. If you see one thing on the Peninsula go to Point Lobos. It's a few miles south on Coast Highway one (the famous Big Sur Coast) and is my favorite place on the peninsula for sure (well technically not on the peninsula). Some of the most gorgeous meeting of land and see on the planet. If you like easy day hikes take about 3 hours or so and walk the perimeter - you can thank me later. I don't know why you're there, or how long you have, but if you can drive the coat between Carmel and San Luis Obispo, do it!

I don't know Jack, but my old guitar teacher (classical guitar) Terrence Farrell is still on the Peninsula and performs regularly. Check him out if you get a chance - tell him Bob Faulkner sent ya.

Also my brother plays around the Peninsula, playing solo Mariachi Harp although he does play with other musicians as well. You can be assured there will be good Mexican food where my brother is playing!

If you have time and are into top end acoustic guitars give my old acquaintance Dexter Johnson of Carmel Music a call. He doesn't have a store front anymore, so I think it's by appointment only. Dexter is a fine luthier in his own right and his wife just happens to be Brazilian. Yes, he brought back some of the finest Brazilian Rosewood anywhere and has sold to the likes of Collings Guitars, Taylor Guitars, SCGC, James Goodal to name a few.
