212Mavguy Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 Thanks!...waiting for the rest of the parts to come from the Ukraine for the preamp. The filter section has been done and is way beefy. Have repeatedly found that you can go ahead and beef up the filtering section way beyond what is normally used with a tube rectifier, no probs in my own, diming experiences playing through my amps done up this way, FWIW. This amp has a pretty unreal tone and especially clean or trem switched in sustain, it will sit on stage with any 18 watter tonewise already. Can't wait 'til it's done. This amp is one of the all time sleeper "vintage boutique" builds out there. The workmanship of the original amp assembly is impeccable. Played it out at a local open mic and it sounded pretty darn great. The speaker swap helped round out the tone, a Magnavox p232 (Jensen P12N done beefier) for the stock Jensen C12R. This line of amps was highly regarded by Ken Fischer of Trainwreck fame for being sleepers.
