Gitfiddler Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Every so often something really unique pops up on Craigslist. I've never heard of this thing, but I bet back in the day it was revolutionary. Anyone ever try one.......or have it on your pedal board?? http://sfbay.craigsl...3282747825.html
FredZepp Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 That's a pretty rare one , I'd bet. VG price book lists a MRK-2 Rhythm King made from '71-'74... early drum machine. It may be kind of funky.. and that may be cool... or perhaps not at all . I'd check it out if it were cheap. I've got an old Maestro Sustainer laying around here somewhere.. but it doesn't work anymore, I'd like to get that working just to have some fun. They also made a Theramin at one point , that would be a blast.
FredZepp Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 This working drum machine has 18 different rhythm patterns...Latin America, Traditional http://www.ebay.com/itm/Electric-Drum-Machine-Maestro-Rhythm-King-/170911439546?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27cb1d9aba One sold on eBay for $112 + shipping = about $150 .. Gitfiddler Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 So it's a drum machine? Interesting.
NoNameBand Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Thats what I need to play the intro to Phil Collins "in the air tonight".
DetroitBlues Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 It's a little big for my pedal board...
DetroitBlues Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Reminds me of my Grandma's old Organ she played when I was a kid.
bolero Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 man that thing is cool...I can't find a drummer these days, maybe I'll just haul one of those around
JeffB Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 JJ Cale used something like that run into a mic'd fender amp on Naturally. Dont know if it was that exact model but its the same vintage/era. Loved that album
bolero Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 yeah that is a cool album..."the river runs deep" is one of my faves on it he's got such a cool laid-backed vibe, mr mojo for sure!!
DC Ron Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Various web sources claim that Sly used a Maestro Rhythm King, usually citing the album There's a Riot Goin On. Listened to a couple of tracks and it COULD be true...
