MartyGrass Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 The original owner was in Ohio. I picked it up last year but swapped it to RhoadsScholar. He had Kent Armstrong personally rebuild the pickup. We did some more swapping. Now it's coming back to Kalamazoo. I'll be putting a Schaller bridge on it and a tone control. I'm not sure about whether to add a Bigsby. This guitar is loud acoustically and has a wonderful tone. If I need a cutaway, which I usually don't, I'll play a different guitar. Nuff said about that.
Horace Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I've looked in of this forum about every day for four years. This one and one or two others are the most beautiful I've seen. You are a fortunate person MartyGrass to be the custodian of this amazing instrument once again.
NoNameBand Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Wow MG, thats gorgeaus. Are you having a homecoming party?
Ned Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I think that is a fine fine super fine guitar. If Big Bob could resist putting a bigsby on the un-cut 575....just saying...... Congratulations on bringing this one back home. Love it when the rare bird is an eagle.
tulk1 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Just something extremely classy about that guitar ... as is ... :-)
Keith7940236 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 That is a real beauty. I wonder how it would look with nickle hardware?
Gitfiddler Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 That is one fine, well travelled archtop!
dbetts41 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I had the good fortune to play that one before martygrass took possession of it the first time... It is a wonderful guitar, with a great voice... personally i would opt out on the bigsby.
FredZepp Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Good stuff ... a pleasure to play, I'm sure..
MartyGrass Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 I won't a Bigsby on this one. If I would have, it would have been a B6. It would leave no marks if I decided to remove the Bigsby later. I already have the bridge for it, and a tone control is usually a good idea.
pressure Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Please no Bigsby, no, no, no Bigsby. That guitar is fab as is and I might own it someday, maybe, possibly, hopefully and I don't even play jazz. Why, i'm not even sure I play guitar but I like that one just the way they made it.
pressure Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I sounded a little whiney in that last post but I'm not a bigsby fan. And I do play guitar. Picturing that guitar with a Bigsby kind of freaked me out! Oops there I go getting whiney again.
StephenK Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I have to agree with Pressure. That is a beautiful guitar and I also might own it someday, but not with a Bigsby. That Eagle is truely one of the finest to come out of Kazoo. Congrats, Stephen
RhoadsScholar Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I am sure gonna miss that one. Mark, thanks for the pleasure of allowing me to own, try, modify, play, and trade this guitar. I think we both did okay. I do have a great picture from PSP that will forever keep me company (the one that got away). Looking for a good caption for this picture.
MartyGrass Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 You look reflective, even somber. Very soon you will have two guitars and a little amp to keep you company. It's good to get the GE back. I won't lie about that.
