grubber Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 One of my favorite players. Ever. Pay close attention to hiw wah use throughout--it is very subdued, but makes the entire lead guitar part have a vocal tonality. And just when you get lost in the song, you watch his foot and remember he has been using the wah the entire time, to a genius level of minimalization.
bolero Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 that was neat, thx! all you need to go on tour these days, is a laptop I do get tired fast of all his backing tracks, with the bass throbbing along on the root all the time. heck, he could re record "surfing with the alien" with a real band & it would sound awesome
koula901 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Crowd shot at about 3:35 is bizarre!! they look like a jazz audience.
JeffB Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 they look like a jazz audience. very studious. So much scutiny going on in that room. Joe is fearless. Tough gig, just you and a guitar....and a lap top vs an auditorium of guitar geeks. We didnt come to rock.
212Mavguy Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I learned lots from watching this the first time... If I don't watch it a few more times I'm being foolish. That was truly a Doctorate level dissertation and demonstration of subject matter. It's easy for me to relate to playing through my own amp gear watching him, great clinic. Thanks to the OP.
DetroitBlues Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I'd be staring in awe watching him work his magic too if I was there...
