chaze Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 What gig bag do you use for your prospect? Normal gig bag is too small, hollowbody gigbag is too big....
tbonesullivan Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I would just use a hard case. Less of a chance of damage and snapping the thing in half.
schundog Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 I use a hard case for my Prospect, or ANY angled headstock guitar I own. Gig bags are good for Fender types, as far as I'm concerned.
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 What gig bag do you use for your prospect? Normal gig bag is too small, hollowbody gigbag is too big.... Wouldn't a hard shell case be best?
bolero Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 ditto!! gigbags give you a false sense of security, and do practically NOTHING to protect a guitar. I would use a gigbag for a tele, but that's about it hard cases are only approx $70 or so, get a TKL they are well made & the same company that makes both Gibson & Heritage cases for them
chaze Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 thanks for the advise! i guess i need to get a light case sth like gator. the original case is so heavy.
tulk1 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I had a Wolf Case that I used for a while. Padded like crazy. But by the time the padding was added in it didn't really save space or weight over a hard case. Just be careful that any light case you get protects that headstock. That's the biggest issue.

Have a TKL for my Nash/Gibson Lester, which goes out a lot. Love that case...plenty of protection, and it's somehow lighter and much less unwieldy than the usual Heritage or Gibson case.
fxdx99 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Against the popular opin here... but I use a gig bag for all my guitars. Enjoy the over the back/light weight freeing up hands. But I treat them carefully in transit, loading in/out of car, etc. I'm not tossing them in a van w/a bunch of other heavy gear. I've 4 different bags, some came w/the guitar. I like Access cases - Elderly carries them, think it's and Access Stage One case for semi-hollow guitars. Think it was around 70 bucks or so. The 535/525 both fit well and I also use it for a 150/LP/even tele sometimes. For the money, like that case a lot. Could call Elderly, give lower bout dimensions and see if one of theirs is a good fit.
Tammuz7000 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Which TKL case comes with the Heritages? I need a case for my ES345 and TKL has 2 levels a a 7855 for $199 and a 8855 for $299 for list price. Where can you get a TKL for $70? My friend uses Reunion Blues for his Heritages and luvs them. I prefer the hard case myself.
bolero Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 local music store here, I will check those models ps if anyone needs a 335 case i have a roadworn one I can get rid of, cheap
DetroitBlues Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Find yourself a Wolfpack case. Looks like a gig bag with shoulder straps and padding. But it's really a HSC, best of both worlds. Mine was $80 new out the door at GC...
Number8 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 If you're looking for light yet secure, you might be happy with this road runner case: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/road-runner-polyfoam-electric-guitar-case?tandt_rdir=1 It fit my old hollowbody which was about two inches deep and 15 wide, so it might work for the Prospect.
