brentrocks Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Thats what came to mind when i saw this guitar for the first time in person. Its a 2011 H 157 with 3 Duncan 59ers. I picked this up from a GC in the Detroit area. It is in awesome condition. The typical H 157 appointments are there....ebony board, blocks, bound/inlaid peghead, multi-ply bonding on the body, flame maple pickguard. What really attracted me to this one is the fact that it doesnt have GOLD hardware! Middle position is the bridge pickup and the middle together, 1 and 3 position is normal. Its heavy, at least 10 lbs...and it sounds GREAT!!!
DetroitBlues Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 You wasted no time on that one Brent! Congrats! Drove past my neck of the woods to get there!
FredZepp Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 So that's where it went.. ! Nice one , Brent. practically new .... Do You Feel Like We Do?
brentrocks Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 You wasted no time on that one Brent! Congrats! Drove past my neck of the woods to get there! i didnt drive over there, they shipped it
SouthernCanuck Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I like the look! Congrats - I wonder if you could wire it for 5 position... S_C
hotfordcoupe Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Oooooohhh, That's a beauty. I used to have a 94 Gibson Historic collection 54 Les Paul Custom and it was great. That one looks even better than mine did. I love the silver hardware. Congrats.
DetroitBlues Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 i didnt drive over there, they shipped it Wow, fast shipping!
skydog52 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I agree. Looks brand new. Frampton like! Congrats Brent on another nice acquisition
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Wow, do you feel like I do? Brents got GAS. I'd say dibbs, but....you know why. So, why would GC have a 2011 in inventory? Buyer remorse from a Heritage dealer and he/she traded it on a Gibby??
brentrocks Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 I like the look! Congrats - I wonder if you could wire it for 5 position... S_C that would be great if there were a 5 way toggle that would replace the 3 way that is on the guitar now
squawken Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Brent-I'm losing track. Did you at one point have the Gibson Ace Frehley 3 pup guitar? If so, I'm curious how it stands up against this Heritage? Tone, playability?
bolero Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 WOAH!!! it reminds me of Page's 3pup black beauty very nice
RhoadsScholar Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Very nice score Brent. Peter would be proud!
RhoadsScholar Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Randy would be proud too (but I am a little biased)
HANGAR18 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 What really attracted me to this one is the fact that it doesnt have GOLD hardware! I too really like the chrome hardware. It's nice to see an actual example of what that looks like ahead of time while considering ideas for future guitars. What am I seeing on the back of the headstock? Is that some sort of orange peel effect (flaw) going on there?

Buckyrock Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Stew-Mac has a 6-way "Jimmy Page" switch designed for just this type of guitar...
big bob Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Why the F would you want three pickups, you have fender envy or something?
SouthernCanuck Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Stew-Mac has a 6-way "Jimmy Page" switch designed for just this type of guitar... 6-way? Hmmm... bridge, bridge+middle, middle, middle+neck, neck --- and all three together, I guess? S_C
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 That is definitely orange peel on the back of the headstock. But who looks there anyhow!! That definitely qualifies as "HERITAGE GUITAR OF THE MONTH".
PunkKitty Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Beautiful! I'm glad that someone here was able to get it. Congrats, Brent!
DetroitBlues Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Why the F would you want three pickups, you have fender envy or something? He has BigBob envy... I guess if size doesn't matter, quantity does for tone?
