iim7v7im7 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Hi, I recently, had Peter Mather (Mather Cabinets) make we a new, deeper than normal (10.5") combo cab for my Lil' Dawg D-Lux (5E3). I also had Josh (Atlas Stands) make me a folding stand for it that will hold my attenuator beneath the amp. This allows me much more home use (attenuator is between the amp out and my speaker). It really is great set up for amps with top facing controls. It is a great little set up for all you 5E3 users who want to play at home. You can get tuneful deluxe sound without the blasting your ears out. Both Peter and Josh are master craftsman. I recommend each w/o reservation. :-) Bob
schundog Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 VERY slick setup! I dig it, I dig it ALOT! Enjoy.
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Purdy nice. So the attenuater lets you get all the gain and benefits of the amp at a bedroom volume level?
iim7v7im7 Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Yeah, pretty much....not at whisper volumes, but at very reasonable volumes I can get it to sing real good.
kidsmoke Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 GREAT set up!! Why the deeper cab? Gorgeous...
iim7v7im7 Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 GREAT set up!! Why the deeper cab? Gorgeous... Yeah, normal cabs are 9-12" deep. Mine is 10-1/2" which helps the bass a bit.
nachogrande Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 As an industrial designer, I must say it's a marvellous stand design.
iim7v7im7 Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 As an industrial designer, I agree... :-)

bolero Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 yeah that is pretty slick!!! does the stand fold up easily for travel etc?
iim7v7im7 Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Yes, it folds up flat and has a built in leather strap and some snaps to keep it closed. It weighs about 11-12 lb. (walnut). Here is a similar one without the attenuator holder for my Redplate. I also find by getting the amp up off the ground it helps with reducing bass coupling. I now have stands from Atlas for all three of my amps

212Mavguy Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Red Plate ... 'zackly. +1 for the sick boutique gear. Where da store bought tone stuff? Yaaaaayuh! Hat is off to OP Boutique gear for boutique guitars! Boutique guitars for boutique gear!
iim7v7im7 Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Both the Li'l Dawg and the Redplate were built custom and purchased directly from their makers (Jim and Henry). The AI was purchased from Michael at Sound Island Music.
212Mavguy Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Two fantastic amp builders those two are. Would be fascinating to see the rest of what is in that music store if the stand is any indication...Those are pieces of art on their own even before being switched on.
