eljay Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 a year or so back, someone ran a poll on the "desert island" heritage. (the desert island conveniently had electricity.) i recollect that the 535 polled the highest by a fair margin. OK. well, i've never played or even held a 535. i did play t-steel's 555 at psp3. impossible not to like. and, yeah, i have a gib 335. nonetheless, i'm checking in to proclaim the 150/157 as my favorite of all my gitz! can i get a witness? or not. eljay
Bonefish Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 I really, really enjoyed my H150, And I have loved my H157. So, yeah I'm definitely with you.
AP515 Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 I'll be on your island with the electricity. I've had both, I really liked the 535, but I love the 150.
DetroitBlues Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 My experience is too limited to make an informed decision. Someone send me a 157 so I can figure it out...
schundog Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 My "favorite" Heritage is the one that put the smile on my face most recently....
JeffB Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 We had a band practice the other day and I took my H150. The practice consisted of us playing a new song and then me proclaiming what an awesome guitar my H150 was between songs. I got eyes rolling and "cool story bro" comments by the end of it but I didnt let that curb my enthusiasm or proclamations. I love it, I feel bad for not gigging it. Im going to start making amends , Im taking it out Friday night to show it off.
Kuz Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Honestly, I am with Brian on the last Heritage played being my favorite..... but I play my 150s the most. I have always loved the LP shape and tone, and we know that a LP doesn't get better than a good 150!!!
mtpatty Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 My 1999 H150 has an ebony fretboard- and my 2005 has a rosewood board- I can definitely relate- digging them both- a lot!
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Me likes my 137. IF had only could have two Hertages, it would be a 150 and a 535. But I played my 137 last nite with Heritagefan7 and TalismanRich and we had a blast. TalismanRich had his gorgeous restored 157 and Heritagefan7 had his beautiful sunsetburst 150. Photos will be posted by Rich so nobody can say it didnt happen!
kidsmoke Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 well, as I recall, a big part of the 535's success was that it was so versatile, and had more acoustic tone during power outages, so it made sense to bring as that one and only....not that you wouldn't pine away daily for the 150/7 that you had to leave behind.... Gotta say, eljay, with the gear list that you have, "favorite of all gitz" is a hell of a statement!
golferwave Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Heritage H-150's and H-157"s are my favorites. I have a few of each and love them all.

They should feel and sound different because of the ebony board in the 157. Or, maybe they are a bit different but you can't really say which you prefer. I actually felt that way between an Epiphone and Gibson Joe Bonamassa. I had one of each and couldn't say Iliked one over the other for tone but will say the Epiphone actually played easier. What pups do you have in your 150 and 157?
koula901 Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 It's a tie, at the moment, between my 150 and my 137 with P90s. It doesn't matter, anyway - my taste changes every 3 months. That's why I have to keep all of them!

What pups do you have in your 150 and 157? they don't sound the same because of pickups. 150 has p90s; 150lw has seths; 157 has schallers. each does its thing. fretboard wood is mox nix to me. each has great feel and balance. 3-way tie, desmond.
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Horrible horrible things. Back Asswards all the way.
HANGAR18 Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Heritage H-150's and H-157's are my favorites. I have a few of each and love them all. Same here. I try different guitars but when I get back to the Les Paul shape, it feels like home. Speaking of different guitars and 535's, I too have never played a 535. After last night working though an online blues guitar lesson and trying to bend a high E string up a whole step with an assisted ring finger, the idea just occurred to me that maybe I should try a 535 with 9's on it and use that to play blues and leave the H-150's and H-157's (with 10's) for my heavy metal. (Because my left ring finger still hurts.) Okay, try not to laugh too hard. Finger isn't used to that.
High Flying Bird Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I took the 535 over to Joe's tonight to change the strings. I took all the strings off and cleaned it, put a touch of lemon oil on the ebony fretboard and strung it with 9's. I tuned it up and stretched the strings a few times and played it for about 10 minutes. Everything was good to go so I cranked up the Allman Bros Mountain Jam and played along acoustically. After about 35 minutes of killing my fingers I decided the 535 was a pretty good guitar to have in a pinch. Electricity or not. This post came to my mind tonight. 535.
pro-fusion Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Different tools for different jobs. If I had to choose one, I'd go with my 157.
zguitar71 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Well I guess I will give my two cents here. I have a 150gt from 2010 with p-90's. I have played guitar for 30 years and I have owned Gibbys and Heritages and Fenders both solid bodies and hollow bodies. Over the years I have learned that my ears like the sound of Mahogany so naturally I gravitate toward 150's and les Paul's when it comes to solid body guitars. Having owned les Paul's in the past I made the move to a 150 about a couple of years ago. I have not had a Paul type guitar since the mid 90's and found myself craving one. Since that time I discovered Heritage and knew the g brand was not for me. So now I have the gt 150. I play my gt unplugged most of the time when I am at home. I cannot get over the tone of the guitar. There is a distinct resonance that comes from the back of the guitar around the neck joint area. This is by far the best sounding LP design I have ever played. I am sure some of it is the luck of the draw with wood selection ect...... I had the fortune of playing a 59 custome with 3 pickups a couple of decades ago and was impressed with the unplugged tone but I think this guitar is better. It really has something special about it. I have always dreamed of a 56 LP (real one) but I could never afford one; however, I do not think I would sound any better than my gt (with identicle electronics of course). I love the tone, feel, vibe, ect of my guitar what more can I say.
