squawken Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Holy clmazza! NICE collection. I've looked at different Edwards and Tokai, but never heard them. How would you rank the Gibson, Heritage, Edwards and Tokai?
skydog Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Currently (this has been known to change!): an '87 Strat Plus, an Epi Wildkat, a couple of Martin acoustics, a 2001 Taylor LTD 710CE, a '96 MIJ 52RI Tele, a JV Strat. Man, I've got to thin the herd!

clmazza Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Holy clmazza! NICE collection. I've looked at different Edwards and Tokai, but never heard them. How would you rank the Gibson, Heritage, Edwards and Tokai? Thank you sir! 8) hmmm.. tough question. A few quick observations... traits that stand out the most: My 68 Gibson Historic has a dark thick tone that is unlike any other guitar I own. It's build quality is exceptional. Great Custom Shop! The Edwards is a surprisingly "accurate" and well built LP copy. The pups were weak and I swapped them for a set of Rios. Otherwise, great axe! Light@! The Tokai is a fantastic guitar in the tone category. It's all original and just feels like an old friend... well balanced and extremely articulate. I'm probably partial to it since it's been with me for a while... 8) The Gibby Faded Standard is a work in progress. It's probably the best bargain in terms of an LP but I've done a bit of experimentation with her and she's turning into a fantastic player. A solid "go to" guitar albeit a bit on the heavy side like my custom. The Classic is my least favorite in the Gibby camp. This one sounds very loud and aggressive. Definitely the ceramic humbuckers. I just tend to like bigger necks and this one has the sixties slim taper that I do not care much for any more. My H-150CM Ultra I love! It was a surprisingly fresh addition to the family. Extremely articulate with incredible sustain. Excellent build quality and PRETTY! OK... now for the "current" ranking: 1 - H-150CM 2 - Gibby Faded Standard 3 - Tokai LS60 MIJ 4 - 68 LP Custom 5 - Edwards E LP-85 SD 6 - Gibby LP Classic
