new pedalboard

Had a few off cuts of this sitting around for about a decade. Its an off cut of an ali extrusion for a pelmet for an automatic door track.

I found it to be a really useful off cut and have used them to make screw trays, tool box's etc in the past. Light and tough.

This one is about 8.5inches deep. Another pelmet extrusion we used on larger heavier doors and their tracks is about 12inches deep.

An off cut like this has a value of about 20cents at the scrap metal merchants.

Looks thin, but I can jump up and down on it repetitively with full weight and it wont lose form. A tap on a stomp is nothing.

I will probably mount what ever power supply I decide to use underneath.

Havnt decided exactly what else going on or how I going to go about switching etc, but this is all I need for tomorrow night, or any night for that matter.

One delay set to about 250-300ms with one repeat and the other set to about 500-700ms with a couple repeats or set to wiggy implosion for the moments when you need that

Im having a clean up and finding stuff I forgot about. This Warwick bag being one of those things. I used it for another board about 8yrs ago for about two years. I think it cost about $25

So where do I go to find one for me? I like that a lot better than dropping $70-$100 on a "real" board and I can put a nice APC pwr strip underneath. If it's as strong as you say that is slick as hell.

Flooring works great too (laminate) and is also lightweight. Using two pieces of flooring with a gap between them and then securing them with three cross pieces and then something on the back for elevation (e.g. a 1x1) can make a great board.

Its a commercial aluminium extrusion used on automatic sliding doors. Commercial/industrial window and door manufacturers should have it. Though you might have to ring around and ask.

Aluminium extrusions like this come in 5 and 6.5 metre lengths, a small auto door and side lights will be about 5.2m. The 1.3m off cut is good for nothing. But no one is going to chop into a full length to give you a .700mm length.

As far as strength goes.

thats every bit of weight I have centered on one foot on a .300mm off cut.

Its easy to work with as far as cutting, filing and drilling holes for power and patch leads.

I tend to not worry about stuff like that as I always seem to be dropping or adding stomps according to how I feel about where Im playing. So I want it to be easy to add or remove stuff. Velcro strips is good enough for me.

There are so many different cases you can buy now cheaply, you can construct a board out of all kinds of stuff.... even boards!!! to fit in side of the case of your choice.

Ive always found that pedal boards made by companies are either too big, too small, full of features I dont want, missing features I want, too expensive(face it, its a board) or....no thats it, expensive and not right.

Cool. Thanks. Living in a pseudo Juarez/Bagdad it should be no problem for me to find a shop with that. I'll Velcro it up just like yours and I imagine that'll be perfect for me. I owe you a drink my friend.

There are all kinds of things you can build pedalboards from if you just look around, I actually did buy one once when I was just really busy and needed something bigger, I can't believe I did that now.

I know most people tend to want a light pedal board, and that's great for moving, but there are times when I am singing, playing and rocking a wah all at the same time, and I've had my board slip around, the one I'm using now is homemade and heavy, but it's never moved while I was playing. I also don't have any kind of a case for it, which I've found means I don't mess up settings while moving it near as much.
