eljay Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 my "last" piece of gear . . . i understand that the vox ac15 was a clean sheet design, owing nothing to fender's circuits. the vox sound in a nutshell: simple tone stack, absence of negative feedback loop, el84 "bottles," and celestion blue speaker(s). must. have. recipe: trinity amps tc15 kit + li'l dawg assembly expertise + mather cabinet. add money and patience. estimated in hand: february, at which point i'll have the blackface, tweed, marshall, and vox sounds on tap in the mancave. thanks for reading! eljay
tulk1 Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Vox = my favorite amp. I keep an AC30 at home. My Mesa TA is set on the AC15 side. Good choice!
FredZepp Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I bet it makes for a cool amp. I've always done Fender or Marshall type amps, not really Vox. But on the Tweaker , the Vox setting is one of my favorite tones in that one, so I'd expect the real deal to quite awesome.
DetroitBlues Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I used to know a guy that could make one. Too bad he decided to close his doors to become a Jeep Junkie...

He is real active on the Vox forum. He finds old non working AC30's and he gets all the parts (as original as possible) to refurbish into a working, killer sounding Vox. If you are interested, I can get in touch with him and see if he has any for sale. He an honest, standup guy too!

smurph1 Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I used to know a guy that could make one. Too bad he decided to close his doors to become a Jeep Junkie... Not to brag, but I think I own his last Vox clone..Super Clean, Super Loud, and Super Sweet!!

Steiner Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 A Vox circuit and P90s are a killer combination! Enjoy.
grubber Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Vox = my favorite amp. I keep an AC30 at home. My Mesa TA is set on the AC15 side. Good choice! The TA 15 is an amazing amplifier! Paired with a Heritage Guitar, you have tone that is hard to beat........
DetroitBlues Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 You meant to say, he closed his doors to spend more quality time with his family, didn't you? No, he became a Jeep Junkie....
schundog Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 No, he became a Jeep Junkie.... It's a Jeep Thing; You Wouldn't Understand..... (At least that's what it says in the windows of those Jeep Junkies, haha)
Spectrum13 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Are you saying you don't have a Vox style Amp AND have a 12 string Ric? That is just wrong Skinny Cat J. Great amps for single coils. Suggest you consider the sub-set Ef86 Normal and Bright / 12AX7 Normal and Bright channels and something with 4 inputs so you can blend. Get at it man.
DetroitBlues Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 It's a Jeep Thing; You Wouldn't Understand..... (At least that's what it says in the windows of those Jeep Junkies, haha) I thought it was an upside down bumper sticker that reads, " If you can read this, turn me over!"
DetroitBlues Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 A Vox circuit and P90s are a killer combination! Enjoy. I'd gladly trade my Ornage TT for an AC30!
Steiner Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 I'd gladly trade my Ornage TT for an AC30! The AC30 isn't loud enough for your band gigs.
eljay Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 Are you saying you don't have a Vox style Amp AND have a 12 string Ric? That is just wrong Skinny Cat J. alas, it will remain wrong, as i just sold the ric 12-str to a HOCer. got the ric 6s, though.
DetroitBlues Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 The AC30 isn't loud enough for your band gigs. Ha! My Blues Jr was too loud at volume level 4!
kbp810 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 No, he became a Jeep Junkie.... I stopped building amps because I bought a Jeep? I've got to read my biography one of these days so I can keep up with what I'm doing!
Steiner Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Speculation and hearsay are almost as good as the VOXy EF86 preamp channel
