pressure Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Great comparison videos. My vote goes to the Sweet 16. The Golden Eagle with the floater sounds a lot like my Johnny Smith.
MartyGrass Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 To me, the richest sound comes from the Golden Eagle with the floater. This is a great irony for me. About three years ago I sold Makis an almond sunburst GE with a floater, possibly the identical guitar. If so, I'm glad he can get those great sounds out of it. I sure as hell couldn't. I remember shipping it to him very well because much of Greece was on strike at the time and I feared it would get lost. The sound of that GE certainly has something to do with the low winding of the pickup. Mostly it has to do with the immense talent of the operator. I got his album Kismet back when I sold him his guitar. What he can do with a guitar is nothing short of amazing. I recategorized myself as a beginner once again. Very depressing.
MartyGrass Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Makis, what strings do you use? Oh, yeah. One more thing- how do you get your fingers to move so fast? Is it true you traded your soul to Satan?
MartyGrass Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 I found the reference. He got it 2.5 years ago. http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/topic/8648-golden-eagle/page__hl__%2Bgolden+%2Beagle__fromsearch__1
2bornot2bop Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 That GE with the humbucker gets my vote. Love that AMBER finish. Has anyone else seen that Amber finish on a Heritage archtop? I'd love to see some actual photos for the video doesn't display much. Thanks in advance!
flattop Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Great playing. Gotta go with the Super eagle for tone.
Kuz Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 For me (and there is no wrong answers) the GE with the Humbucker is the Jazz tone I have in my head (This also maybe because I own a GE with a Humbucker so maybe a bit biased). My second choice, just based on the tone of those clips would be the Sweet 16 ( and I used to own one of those as well!!!). Anyhow those are my choices and I am sticking to them. Great playing too!!!

makam Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Hi Mark. Thank you so much for your kind words... I'm so glad hearing from you again. Your guitar treated like a baby and as you can see it is one of my favorites. Kap, do you know Greeks? It's nice to meet someone here from home...
makam Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Very nice and thanks for taking the time. What amp were you playing through? The amp is a silverface Fender Twin.
2bornot2bop Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Found a GE in that Amber shade. Love that finish on a GE, and the set pup is just icing on the cake!
