So, correct me if I'm wrong; the only difference between this guitar and a 140 is the lower bout shape?

I think maybe the 150 Special sits in between the 150 and 140 for body thickness, i.e. thicker than a 140 by about 1/8".

 

Possibly why there weren't too many produced ?

The H140 is a little less wide than the H150 too.

"H150 Special" Body width - 13” with 1 3/4 Rim thickness

"H140 2nd Edition" Body width - 12- 1/2” with 1- 5/8” Rim thickness
