Balladeer Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 I have a 1999 H535 with Schaller bridge and tailpiece. I'd like to replace the tailpiece with a traditional string-through tailpiece simply to make it easier to change strings. What are the well-regarded replacement tailpieces? Will they fit without drilling?
Balladeer Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 No thanks on the Bigsby. Just a standard tailpiece with 6 horizontal holes for the strings.
Balladeer Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Just to be clear, all I want is a tailpiece like Heritage uses on the H535 now.
High Flying Bird Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Check out Stewart McDonald. Your hardware will be SAE not metric threads. http://www.stewmac.c...tailpieces.html
Guest HRB853370 Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Bigsby, you will need to drill You would put a Bigsby on a Martin Acoustic if you could, wouldnt you!
bolero Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 you can replace the schaller tailpiece with one of these http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces/Electric_guitar,_non-trem_tailpieces/Gotoh_Aluminum_Stop_Tailpiece.html just verify the threads for the bolts, as Bird said
High Flying Bird Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 You would put a Bigsby on a Martin Acoustic if you could, wouldnt you! He would! Hahahaha..... For some reason the bigsby on my 535 is heavier than the one on the 535 I sold to Jim. The thing is killing my back but the tone is so sweet it has been my go to guitar for some time. I am into feedback again and the semi-hollow is so accommodating for that. I could do without the bigsby but it is there in case I need it - but I can shake a neck good enough not to need it for now.
