CJTopes Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 I'm assuming that the answer is yes but I thought I'd ask......... Are the input jacks the same on a H-150 and a Les Paul? Mine seems to be shorting out and causing lots of pops and crackels. Was just going to order one for a LP and replace it.
Guest HRB853370 Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 I bet they are interchangeable, but ask DB, he probably knows for sure!
DetroitBlues Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 I bet they are interchangeable, but ask DB, he probably knows for sure! Hah! I'm not the expert here! Should be the same. The 140's use the barrel input jacks...
mars_hall Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 If you are going to replace a barrel, get the stereo Switchcraft version. It won't wear out as quick and will have twice the locking power...
Blunote Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Depends on whether you have the older style barrel jack or the one Heritage's been using for the last several years. The newer ones have a plate surrounding the jack on the outside rim. The older ones have an nut and washer on the inside and a flange and washer on the outside. The contact spring is also inside the barrel; thus hard access and re-bend. The older ones are tend to fail more often. The newer ones have a shorter barrel, and IIRC the contact spring is exposed enabling it to be re-bent, so to install a newer style in an older guitar you may have to enlarge the control cavity rout in the are of the input jack. I looked into doing that on my '96 H150 and decided to install a stereo version of the old jack instead. The stereo jack tends to last longer since it contains two contact points with the mono jack pin.
76mjs Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I have a 96 H150 that used to have the barrel jack but it was a pain with shorting as well. I enlarged thee hole to almost an inch with a router and replaced it with a regular jack that are used on LPs. One hour worth of labor was all that it cost me.
TalismanRich Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Looking at the picture, it seems that you have the jack plate version. That should be an easy swap since it should be the open jack, not an enclosed barrel jack.
212Mavguy Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I had some issues with the barrel jack, I took a pair of bent tip needlenose andd tightened up the nut inside, problem solved. When the nut was loose grounding was affected.
CJTopes Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 I tried that , didnt seem to help. I bought replacement parts and will attemp fix it this weekend if I get the chance....
CJTopes Posted December 1, 2012 Author Posted December 1, 2012 Well that went well!....Problem solved. I wish all my repairs/mods went that easy!
