H Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 My second amp build just got the seal of approval from the good lady today. Expect a classic mid-powered Fender circuit - with a classic H twist
bolero Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 cool...looking forward to the progress & tone reports
Steiner Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Screw the amp. I want to know what wood you're going after. There's only one thing better than a pretty Wife; a pretty Wife that understands the passion for guitars and amps. I too look forward to your thread.
koula901 Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 I'm looking forward to it as well, as I've been thinking about getting a new cab for my blues jr.

This one is not going to be about the wood, I'm afraid :-/ The look and the sound are the focus this time. Hopefully it won't take two hundred-odd posts before it's finished this time either!
schundog Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Congrats, Howard! Hopefully your new build/thread won't cost me as much as your 5E3 thread, haha. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in mind.
pegleg32 Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 That's great Howard, looking forward to the progress reports.
Keith7940236 Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Fantastic, I look forward to hearing about it!

I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in mind. Thanks Brian - I hope this spurs you on just like last time The chassis and internal components are settled aside from the speakers. The cab is almost decided but Steiner's comment above has made me question one of my thoughts on it!
kbp810 Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Oh yeah, time to get those soldering irons warmed up! Picking and choosing your components as well - my friend, you've got the bug, and you've got it bad; but in a very good way! I'd ask for details, but I'm sure you will be sharing in good time. I'll be following this thread, no matter how many pages it takes

I might ask you a few questions on this one too, component choices and so forth, if that's OK

Steiner Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Don't you guys grow an awesome walnut across the pond? You must be able to get nice maples, KBP810 5E3(?) build has an awesome flamed maple cab. A very befitting housing for (a/another) fine amp.
DetroitBlues Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I'm looking forward to it as well, as I've been thinking about getting a new cab for my blues jr. I thought about a 2x12 combo for the blues jr. Perhaps as another combo.... But until then, I'm looking forward to H's next build!
H Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 So KBP is NOT really retired yet!! But why the warning? Lol I'm hardly as prolific as our master builder The last build thread amounted to over 230 posts, the largest single-subject thread on the HOC to date and only surpassed by the 'Enough Said Music' thread

I have to say that until you queried this earlier in the thread, I was fairly happy with the cab wood choice I'd made since it was to be covered in Tolex. You've made me change my mind....

H Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 Ah! Good man. I look forward to your thread. Cocobola? It will be an English wood but not oak this time. Sycamore is our native maple but would need a dark stain for the colour I want. Walnut is on my list though

It's still my wood of choice.
