DetroitBlues Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Guess you gas free status just dropped a few more points, right Will?
212Mavguy Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Would be interesting to see how soon they sell out. Apparently there are enough buyers with more money then brains to justify the production run.
Guest HRB853370 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Guess you gas free status just dropped a few more points, right Will? Marie always says I can look at other women as much as I like, just don't touch (unless she says so). Its the same way with gear DB. And you should know I am GAS FREE now.
bolero Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 woah...I bet a real one from the '60's is cheaper than that!
kidsmoke Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Or as my girl once put it, I don't care how you build your appetite, just make sure you always come home for dinner.
Gitfiddler Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 That is a great reproduction of a great amp. But with all of the advancements in bass amp technology, is that a retro collector piece? Who would take that expensive rig out to a club?
Horace Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 It's not just bass amps. Ampeg has a full line of limited supply of their 'Heritage Series' amps. All you need is love and money... http://www.zzounds.com/item--AMPHR12R Horace

kidsmoke Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 LOL, the queue for KBP810 Amplifications grand reopening forms to the left, no cutting, no pushing. Please, just be patient, take a number, and make yourselves comfortable. VERY comfortable......
212Mavguy Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Naaah, offer him double his price, that would be what everyone else charges for that uber quality work. Give the man his due. He earned it the hard way.
HANGAR18 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 http://cgi.ebay.com/...ME:B:SS:US:1123 Overall, I've heard good things about Ampeg bass amps. (The regular ones you don't have to pay $6000.00 for.) But over the past few years or so I have been properly brainwashed that Eden bass amps are the best. http://www.eden-electronics.com/
Thundersteel Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 A bass amp with only 30 watts? Might be great for the bedroom. If on stage, it'll probably have to be mic'd.

DetroitBlues Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Here Will, $1,000.... Blues Airmen Guitar in Garden City...
212Mavguy Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 DB! The sight of that beautiful old amp reminds me I 've got the long neglected chassis for a B-12x in my basement, sitting unrepaired since I got it as a basket case from eBay 5 years ago, it's in really bad shape, the power section bathtub resistors got so hot that the eyelet board is charred for 3-4 inches worth and all cracked! The reverb pan long ago had the springs ripped out of it, just an empty box on that part. That amp is rare as hen's teeth, it uses the old school pre-12__7 tubes, 6sn7, 6sl7's, has 'verb and trem, with the 'verb going through it's own champ style 6v6 poweramp and separate output tranny to a small (two 5 inch speakers) satellite speaker box (yes, that is stock!). that is supposed to be put a distance away from the main cab, hence the name "echo" for that feature.. You reminded me that it needs for me to get off my butt and fix! I was long afraid to tackle that one, but i'm getting ready to recap and blueprint a '68 Super Reverb blackline, by then maybe I'll be ready to tackle the Ampeg, and the 6g15 rev/trem surf box kit about as long neglected that I got from Weber and been too intimidated to start.
bolero Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 those Ampeg B15's are on a LOT of old motown recordings...very popular & great sounding studio amp

Guest HRB853370 Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 From an aesthetic standpoing, the Ampeg amps were just works of art, IMO. I wish I had played bass back in the day, I would have probably owned one of those fliptop amps!
hotfordcoupe Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 woah...I bet a real one from the '60's is cheaper than that! It is and definitely better. This is directed towards the collector and not the working bass player. I'd rather take a much cheaper amp and then spend the money on a good tap tuned Golden Eagle with a good floating pickup.
