Blunote Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 bad place to put this question… but, are HRW pickups potted (waxed)? They are.
HANGAR18 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 ...are HRW pickups potted (waxed)? They are. Interesting... I did not know that. Now I wonder if the new H-Kazoo pickups are wax potted as well.
DavesNotHere Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Is there some kind of new H-Kazoo p'up? I thought so. I'm sure Jay Wolfe was advertising a new shipment from Heritage with the new pickups. But, I have a little anecdote to share regarding the pickups.. I was speaking to Marv last week and we got to talking about pickups. he said "Let me get Rendall, you can talk to him. But, I'm going to stay right here and I'll cut his nuts off if he tries to talk you into using the wrong pickups" So he put Ren on the lne and we chatted a bit about what I was looking for and I asked him how the new ones sounded and if he could do anything along the lines of what I was talking to Marv about, and he in essence said "No" So, I don't know if Wolfe's has first dibs on the new pickups or if Marv had a sharp implment positoned on a specific pat of Ren's anatomy Yikes!
HANGAR18 Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Is there some kind of new H-Kazoo p'up? Yes, there are new pickups invented by Rendall Wall and they are called H-Kazoo pickups. The name means Made in Kalamazoo or Kalamazoo Made. As per my conversation with Ren in August of this year, the HRW's are no longer available new from the factory and he would not comment on why.
Blunote Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 It would be nice to hear them sometime. Or, maybe is this the set Wolfe had and demo'd.

Wolfe guitars had started talking up this one particular guitar they had with some of these "new pickups" installed. That is what prompted me to ask about them when I was at the factory. I'd like to plug in an H150 myself and see how they sound through my amps at home sometime.
