MichaelBakerMusicMan Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Hey guys, call me crazy because I'm saying this on the Heritage forum... But, I have a Heritage Colonial 2x12 cabinet it is in dead mint condition. All of the foam is still on the inside and it has been taken great care of. But I never really fell in love with it. It's much like a Les Paul for me. I respect it as fine gear, but I'm not crazy about it. I play with a Mesa Single Rectifier and an 1988 Ibanez JEM DY. I don't play metal though! I can make that setup sound anywhere from U2 to ACDC to Megadeath. Yesterday in a studio I got to hear my gear with a vertical 2x12 made by Mesa. It was tonal bliss. The sound I want.Basically, I'm strongly considering trying to work out a trade. I see that Heritage Amps are kinda tough to come by (won't even tell you what I got mine for ) but I'm just kinda wondering, is the trade fair and all of that? I don't undersatand the value of them as well as most of you probably do. I will say the original speakers in mine have been replaced with G12T-75s. Should I try it with the V30 and G12H-30 before trading it off?
DetroitBlues Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Try some options before you decide. If you do want to part with it, post it on the for sale section with your price.
HANGAR18 Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 What kind of speakers do they put in those cabinets originally? I'm thinking that the Heritage fans might prefer the original speakers but that is only my own speculation.
MichaelBakerMusicMan Posted December 14, 2012 Author Posted December 14, 2012 It shouldve originally had a V30 and a G12-H30. I have a friend who has a fair selection of vintage speakers including V30s, G12s, Greenbacks, Blues, Golds, and high end models of other brands. I really think maybe I should try some out.
brentrocks Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 when i had my colonial 1/2 stack that 2x12 cab was a monster!!! great tone from the stock setup

Make sure you check out WGS. Every bit as good as Celestion, Weber et al for a lot less coin.

Mesa (which are certainly very good) optional: contact Peter Mather (mathercab.com, the original Heritage cab guy) and get a back panel with an oval cutout. that can make a huge difference, too. also, try it vertical (imho, every 2x12 cab sounds better vertical) final: if you've found a combination that works for you, go with it
