Number8 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I have a set of HRWs on the way and I've been thinking of finding an SG or MIM Telecaster Deluxe to put them in, but I thought I'd reach out to gauge opinion regarding whether I could find a Heritage for $500 or less. I've seen a H140 go for as low as $621 on Ebay and $600 on this forum. It doesn't have to be a 140 though; I'd consider anything (including any of those unloved "headstock repair" cases) as long as it has two tones and two volumes. Also, I don't need pickups so the seller could keep those too. Thoughts? Opinions? Angry missives? (Dear Moderators: If this question doesn't result in me getting flamed to death in response, I will promptly move this to the WTB forum.)
SouthpawGuy Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Maybe a H-120, an older bolt on single pickup model ? A few of them have turned up on the forum, may still be floating around out there. http://www.heritageo...sland-h120-560/
SouthpawGuy Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 On the other hand you may find a headstock repaired guitar for a bit more than $500 ? And there's also the older VIP models, some go for not that much more than $500. Just a thought.
DavesNotHere Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 They are out there. Keep watching ebay. My last Heritage was a VIP under $400 with no damage and just a little bit of normal play wear.
DetroitBlues Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 You'll find them once in awhile. H120's were cheap...
Number8 Posted December 15, 2012 Author Posted December 15, 2012 Yeah, I hear you guys on the 120 and/or the VIP but I need the guitar to be routed for two humbuckers (i.e. the HRWs).
DavesNotHere Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 At that price, you could always add a route for another pickup
golferwave Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 No angry missives, but I would say that the chances of you finding a good condition used Heritage for $500.00 or less are slim and none....and slim left town. Good luck.

Good luck. I must respectfully disagree. I have purchased three Heritages in fantastic condition for under $500 each in the last two years. One of which was under $400. For what it's worth, Ren and Marv both got excited when I brought the Parsons Street to PSP V this year. They both told me “If you want a collectable Heritage, this is the one” I paid less than $450 for it. They are out there and people don't always know what they have.
DetroitBlues Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Just have Brent keep an eye out for you!
Telenic Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 If you just want something to stick those pick ups into consider an Epiphone LP off Craig's List. They are usually decently built, just lacking a good pick up.

Guest HRB853370 Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 If you can find one that was built backwards (like the ones Southpaw owns) they would be much cheaper since they were built with the controls, etc on the wrong side! LOL!

I guess I think interms of H-150's and H-535's. There are other models available and I hope he finds one he likes for his price.

Yeah, there's a lot of cheap, new Gibson/Epiphone stuff out there and it looks like that's driving down the price of the used stuff too. I can find a 10yr old Gibson SG for less than $500 without a problem. I could also get a new MIM Fender Telecaster Deluxe for $700. Before I do either though, I figured I'd try to find a genuine Heritage to put them in first.
Blunote Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 I kind of agree with telenic: Buy another less expensive brand for a couple hundred dollars and start saving for the Heritage you really want. They'd probably sound best in a semi-solid/semi-hollow guitar though. Like the one in the this ad: http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/msg/3383101248.html

I know that is the exception , but it helps keep hope alive,
smaj Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 You could buy a Mighty Might neck and body for under $500.00.
Number8 Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 $400 Heritage sighting: http://longisland.craigslist.org/msg/3456686464.html A H120 as many predicted. Hat tip to GPUMA
Number8 Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 Looks like Slim's back in town. Yeah, but I need something with two pickups so the "None" is still praying.
