bluesgolfer Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 I have been told by Heritage that the Korina is lighter.
bluesgolfer Posted December 23, 2012 Author Posted December 23, 2012 Ordered a new 2009 from Jay Wolfe with Korina and fat neck. Should arrive in about one week.

schundog Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 schun, that 137's color is butt ugly! why doncha consider a refin? oh, and Merry Christmas! Oh, is THAT right?! haha (Me and eljay with our nearly identical 137s; I just had to PAY for mine, he won his at PSPIV!) Merry Christmas to you and the Mrs, Larry.
Gitfiddler Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Is that one of HOC'er, Cryoman's pickguards? I wish he'd check in once in a while. He's a great guy!!
schundog Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Yessir, it is. LK155, Lyle from Canada, had it made by Cryoman, and didn't have the heart to put holes in the 137 he so foolishly sold (sorry, Lyle, just razzin' ya.) He was kind enough to give it to me. I debated for about 8 months before "I" had the heart to do it, and boy did I catch hell from some of the purists around here! haha. It's all good; they don't HAVE to like it, because this 137 isn't going ANYWHERE! Merry Christmas, Tim!

Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family (incl. "Miss Thang"!)

schundog Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Agree with everything but I needs me two pups!!! Why order half a guitar? You mean like those 1 pickup jazz boxes you like?! Haha just kidding.
yoslate Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Agree with everything but I needs me two pups!!! Why order half a guitar? Because each of the other Heritages I have is a guitar-and-a-half.... ; )
Kuz Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 You mean like those 1 pickup jazz boxes you like?! Haha just kidding. Like Rob said those guitars are so big they are 1.5 size so they don't count. And currently I own have one guitar that only has one pup.... But that's going to change very soon!!!!!
bluesgolfer Posted December 25, 2012 Author Posted December 25, 2012 Those 137's look very nice. Mine is coming from Jay Wolfe and a bit of tint to them just to darken it sliightly. Mine will also have the gold knobs. What years did they use the black knobs?
fretless Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Ordered a new 2009 from Jay Wolfe with Korina and fat neck. Should arrive in about one week. What are the details on the fat neck ?
bluesgolfer Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 What are the details on the fat neck ? Don't have measurements. Was just told it was quite big but not too big.
kidsmoke Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Brian, I think this is perfection. And after hearing what a Lollar P90 sounds like in one of these at PSPV, man I'm more than a little envious. that pickguard is the bees knees.

bluesgolfer Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 I would say so is my 137 , perhaps they all are "quite big" I hope so. My guitars with bigger necks seem to be able to produce deeper tones. Had a strat with a standard sized neck that I thought was on the bright side and didn't seem capable of producing deeper tones. Put a fat neck on it and get much deeper tones on it.

The invitation is always open to you, Monica, and Gio to get your butts to Chicago's Central Station, catch Amtrak and come on down to Bloomington/Normal for a jam! It's a cheap, 2 hour trip! I'll even offer to throw some red meat on the grill if you guys decide to make the trip!
bluesgolfer Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 Thanks Brent. I was hoping to hear from you before I ordered it though since it sounded like you are the resident expert on mahog vs Korina. I even sent you a pm. I ordered the Korina as you can see but can always order a Mahog also, although I have a Mahog Les Paul and a 157 on the way. My Mahog over Korina? Thanks
