535 advice

I did call Wolfe Guitars (they are local) and spoke to them about it. What a great store! I call them, ask them a question about a used guitar at another store, and they are happy to give advice and insight. I went today to make an offer on it and they wouldn't budge. Although I would eventually want to update the pups, the guitar plays so smooth-It makes me want to just sit and play for hours!

What's killing me is that lately on ebay I've seen 535's with Seth Lovers go for what they are asking for this guitar.

Don't forget that a retailer has overheads to meet and needs to make a profit where as sellers on e bay are perhaps just selling a guitar to change for another one.

Awful??? Compared to?

I respectfully and meaningfully disagree with that statement.

My 555 had schallers, they are better than what was on my 1970's Sumbro jap les paul copy I paid £30 for used. They are better than the pick ups on my mates Dutch Egmond, which was truly awful, also a seventies second hand guitar.

The Schallers are truly awful compared to: Seymour 59's, Seth Lovers, P94's, Bare knuckle pups, almost any quality pick up you can name - so MY ears told me. The schallers were too brittle and had no warmth. The first job I did when I could afford was to get the hardware changed and the pick ups replaced. In my opinion, my 555 is much better for it. Other people have beautiful 535's and 555's which look much different.

That is my opinion, there are of course other opinions available.

Well, I had the guitar on a zero money down layaway. Went down this afternoon to buy her and my sales guy couldn't find it. Turns out they sold it to a guy in Cali. I'm hoping it's one of you guys! Looks like I missed out on this 535, but I'm glad I joined this community and I'll keep looking for the one!
