DetroitBlues Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Interesting SG...guess Eddie wasn't the only one doing two handed finger tapping way back then...
fretless Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 Interesting SG...guess Eddie wasn't the only one doing two handed finger tapping way back then... in '76 '77 VH was starting to buzz ,I think after Eddie , everyone had a go at that , but there was this guy..
DetroitBlues Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Those old Vox organ guitars didn't last very long...
kidsmoke Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Back on the topic of the Pignose Amps....Nice tone from Mr. Zappa. UFO fans may know this but on their Album, Lights Out, what many consider their best, Michael Schenker recorded it on a Pignose. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3a1F8T5kzxM
James535 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 I had one of those little pignose amps. My dad bought it me when I was six and I still have it. Awesome looking and sounding thing! Loved the single pot, with the pignose shaped knob. Especially when I was six! FZ getting some great tones from it too
Bulldog Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Always good to hear Frank! All that sound, inspiring.
koula901 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I wish I hadn't seen this. Now I need an SG!
kidsmoke Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I wish I hadn't seen this. Now I need an SG! Well you almost have one. In my opinion, from a physics standpoint, a 137 with humbuckers is pretty much an SG. Thinner mahogany body, mahogany neck and rosewood board, 24.5 scale. Also, I've seen USA fadeds on CL for 400.00 all the time. definitely dig the attitude of the real thing.

Almost, except my 137 has P90s. As for CL - you probably don't see them in Lefty for $400.00. What I've seen in lefty, and used, is usually around $700 (in stores).

And yeah, I DID forget, you're right minded, for which you perpetually pay a surcharge.
koula901 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I did think about putting buckers into the 137 but there's no easy way to do it. Besides, I would miss the P90s.
fretless Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 I put a SD custom shop bucker in mine but I love the neck P90 , infact it may be my all time favorite combo so I've learned a few things since the OP , Frank has a 20 dB booster built into his axe , so some type of boost pedal perhaps would get you closer to that with your pig .It's also been widely reported that the old pigs are better , pre made in China .
kidsmoke Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 as we veer with reckless abandon....would you correlate the sounds you get with the bridge bucker to classic SG tones? I've often wondered this about the 137 platform.

fretless Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 here you see one being used as a preamp into another amp
bolero Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 the keyboard player for Derek & the Dominos ( Bobby Whitlock ) said there was a pignose amp used on "Layla & assorted love songs", in addition to the champ & princeton Duane & Eric were plugged into
